I really want to go to crna school but I'm worried that my gpa is too low. It's a 3.4, and I hear you need much higher. My dilemma is should I just not waste my time applying to crna school or just go for my acute care practitioner license or what? Please help.
ditto everything mike said,
if you search the forums for gpa, then you will see your gpa is fine. The big thing is where you plan on applying---some schools get 400 applicants, some get 40.
Schools want an entire package brotha. I had a 3.4 GPA in cummulative under grad, significantly higher in sciences. I'm halfway through the first semester and kicking it and taking names. Just apply:) Shotgun the applications, I promise you'll find a program that will take you. Confidence goes a long way!!!!
Look for schools you match up well some calculate GPA different (look at core or math/science classes). If you are willing to move it can open up doors for you, some states have one or two programs. Look at NC they have five, Pennsylvania has eleven and maybe five are in Philadelphia. A 3.4 GPA is close to average. I would assume lots of numbers you see posted here are skewed for a couple of reasons 1) the people with lower numbers may not like to post in a public forum 2) I think the people posting here do not make a good sample population. I would wager the averages for the posters here and the averages for everybody admitted would have a significant difference. I think 3.4 is competitive the other side or 3.5 looks better but the time/effort to raise it could be better spent obtaining your ccrn(looks good on apps) and knocking down a better score on GRE.
