So I just found out today from my recruiter that there is a 6 months RN experience requirement to join the Army Reserves. My packet is complete and I passed MEPS but need to wait the full 6 months till they can send it to boards (Jan 20). Anyone else hearing about the 6 months experience rule?

Is this 6 months experience required for STRAP or for commissioning?

I first heard it here on this discussion board, that is why I love this site cause it is so informative. I have been working on my packet since May. Completed MEPS in July and have just completed my packet. My recruiter has not said anything about six months of RN experience before acceptance. He maybe holding out on me cause I have not heard from him in a couple of weeks. I will be at the 6 month mark on Feb. 3 which is no problem. I've waited all this long time I guess I can wait a little longer. But I tell you what by then I should not have to submit ANYMORE PAPER WORK AND ALLTHE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE IN PLACE. Cause they always want and need ONE MORE PIECE OF PAPER WORK!!

Well, thats the Army for you "HURRY UP AND WAIT!!":lol2:

The job market has gotten REEEEAL ugly. Everybody is flooding the military, now they are overwhelmed with applicants. I do see where all of these new requirements are coming from. Just stay positive and keep it moving, it will all work out for all of us who are WAITING!!!

This is the policy letter that is dated August 27th, 2008 at 1300.

My recruiter told me most times higher headquarters "overlooks" the policy letter and passes candidates through.

Six months is the "new" requirement for BSN-STRAP applicants.

I already have my BSN so my recruiter knew I wasnt doing anything with STRAP.

My recruiter is telling me that she cant send my packet to the board because I havent meet the 6 mos. work experience. According to my recruiter the higher headquarters or board gods arent overlooking anything right now d/t the crappy economy and everyone trying to get into the army. She doesnt even want to send it in and find out. Not 100% sure I trust my recruiters word cause I have heard complaints that they dont have office help and she has to manually scan in all my documents (which seemed like a big hassle for her). She is really nice to talk with though I dont know for certain im getting the shine job. She did push and fight for me to get thru MEPS and got me a waiver for that so I have to giver her the benefit of the doubt unless I heard otherwise.

I started my packet back in May and after I took a job in August (couldnt wait for food while the army machines were slowly turning)! My employer made me sign a contract and I told my recruiter that I couldnt do active duty anymore but would 100% love to do reserves. This seemed to put my packet in even slower gear. I told her I was sorry but my employer meant bizness with enforcing their contract and made us sign a waiver that said they would come after us for training expenses and paid wages during our preceptorship. I also got a big scholarship from them and that was hard for the army to figure out how to payback cause they are used to dealing with US Dept. of ED. and Sallie MAe.

Anyhow, Ive waited this long and I really am looking forward for the chance to play soldier boy so if I have to wait, ill wait! Not happy about waiting but I wont stop trying till Im officially denied any chance.
