You did mention that this person was a "former friend for a reason" Why would you think to network with a person you don't trust? I know you may have been hopeful but a tiger always shows its strips. It's sad and unfortunate in the nursing profession we can't have each others back but instead we back stabb. I've learned like many have mentioned here to keep your job search between you and God, he's the only one that you can count on having your back and making things happen!!! The drug you maybe thinking of that stops menstration is call Depo-provera....It's an injection (thick and white) a form of birth control for women who chose not to take pills or use other forms. You take it every three months and it suppresses your menstral cycle altogether....well at least it did for me..Lol! Hope this helps, you can google its side effects and adverse reactions...

Sorry, I'm just getting back to you. I have been busy all week with orientation and getting prepared for my commute. To answer your question I didn't get the job at Good Samaritan but I did get the job at Johns Hopkins which I am VERY EXCITED about. My orientation was awesome, just to hear all the opportunities and options they have to offer. None of the speakers were boring and they all seemed very passionate about their jobs. Everyone started out saying that they were only going to be there for a couple of years and most of the speakers have been there for 20+ years all starting at a entry level positions i.e. secretary and techs. I have never attended an hospital orientation like this before. They EXPECT and ENCOURAGE you to advance your career. I can go on and on but I will tell you this. I am glad things worked out this way. They are in the process of updating their facilities a BILLION dollar renovation. I'm happy to be apart of it all and the center that I'm in has only been open for 2 years and they are going to be a huge deal for sickle cell patients and research which has already started. Thanks for checking in on me and I will keep you all posted.

See, and I don't want to up root my kids and my home is VERY affordable. I have a wonderful support system here which I won't have if I move. (single parent) So childcare I would need especially working at night. I just wish I could hit the D*&^ lottery and this won't be an issue....BUT! until then back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Moving is just not an option right at this moment....but yes in the future. I looked into taking the train then I could sleep and they have a megabus thats only $1-$5 each way. I have family I could stay with while there for back to back shifts. I'm just trying to wiegh my options....which there are not many!...smh...but thank you guys for the advice! Got a lot of thinking to do!

I would like to know how far have you or would be willing to drive to get to work. I will be accepting a position that is 2 hours from my front door to theirs. As we all know the job market sucks right at this moment and we have to take what we can get so to speak....It wouldn't be everyday either only working three days a week 12-hour shifts nights. Any advice or information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ladies and Gents!!!

I have also interviewed for JHH and Good Samaritan, Hopkins I interviewed for their Sickle Cell Clinic and I have an interview for their ER dept. I interviewed for Good Samaritan's ER residency program. I was very excited about the program and how its taught being new to ED Nursing I think its important to have an extensive orientation on specialty units. Yes, we both have a hard decision to make but I'm really interested in working at Hopkins. I think their benefits are awesome, as nurses you are salaried and can get OT and shift differentials. I will see on my interview on Jan. 20th what kind of ER orientation they do have and they are a Level 1 Trauma center with many educational programs and options to take advantage of. They have a hospital over in the middle east that they staff nurses for, they are just an all around good hospital to work for. Don't really know much about Good Samaritan other than they are a level 2/3 center basically med/surg. ER no trauma's only stabilization and no PEDs. Their Director is soooooo hilarious and the guy that does the education of the ER is really nice and very knowledgeable. I will let you know if I find out anything else that would help you in your decision. Good luck and I will keep you posted.

Well, you would think if they emailed you to pick an interview date and time, then they are interested. But then again, they might have too many applicants and ton of email. I at the end of Nov and recieved an email about my gpa, nurse tech hx, and license etc. I emailed them back haven't heard anything, but my employer did say they contacted her for a reference.....So hopefully I will get an interview. It is the holidays and people are taking off so we might not hear anything until after then...Good Luck!!

I understand your pain. I myself am WAITING. I applied for a RN position on Oct. 7th the closing date. I recieved a call from the nurse manager for an interview Oct. 12th interviewed on Oct. 15th, and I have been waiting ever since. People I've spoken to warned me that the hiring process is really slow. I called the nurse manager Friday and inquired about my application she stated it had been submitted to the Chief Nursing Officer for approval. She adviced me to contact the nurse recruiter cause she will be the one to make the offer. All I can say is good luck, keep applying to other jobs when they come available, and keep calling to inquire...... everything will work out in your favor. Be Positive!!!:up::yeah: Diva

Good Job and Congrats!!! You will be getting some valuable experience so please take FULL ADVANTAGE of what they have to offer. You will be in critical care soon enough and more prepared....In the mean time get your certifications ACLS and BSN if you don't already it, anything to make yourself more marketable while trying to get into the hospitals. WOW!!! This is the NORM for the nursing profession, I have been a witness to all the things stated in the original post. My advice to you is STAND YOUR GROUND and dont' QUIT!!! You shouldn't have to xfer out of a specialty you love with a passion because of a few bad apples. If you are tired of the disrespect/bullying and don't want someone else to be subjected to those problems, express your concerns and make some changes. I'm soooo tired of the answer always being, WELL XFER TO A DIFFERENT FLOOR, GET ANOTHER JOB, IGNORE HER/HIM, STOP COMPLAINING, ETC. Our profession is FULL OF BULLIES and its time for nurses to stop sweaping the situation under the rug and IGNORING IT! Nothing will change if WE don't request/demand change....And nurses wonder why we are not taken SERIOUSLY by DOCTORS, because we don't know how to treat each other in our own profession, I'm sure they hear....I'm just saying, think about it! Stand up for yourself and things will get better!!

Hey!! sorry it has taken me so long to respond, but Yes I heard back maybe two weeks ago and I was told by my recruiter that I didn't qualify for my SI identifier. My packet is going to have to wait until Oct this year or until I graduate with my BSN in 2011. They didn't give me any specifics on exactly why it didn't qualify. Oh and by the way I haven't spoken to my recruiter since then. I hope you all are having better luck than I am. I haven't given up just have slowed down with the process. I will let them contact me when they are ready whenever that will be.:uhoh3:
