COT and timeline

Hi everyone! So my packet will go before the AF board for the Sept. 23rd deadline. I've been told it's usually somewhere in November when we find out if we are selected or not. Being hopeful that I get a select, can anyone tell me a realistic timeframe of when I could expect to leave for COT after being selected? I also really wanted to get stationed at Ramstein, Germany ( I'm 46N3E) or anywhere overseas; what is the reality about if that's a realistic hope right out of the commission gate? Thanks in advance!

Air Force ICU nurses aren't stationed at Ramstein; they go to Landstuhl, Germany (where the ICU is). Generally, ICU nurses (such as yourself) must be CCATT (air evac) qualified in order to be stationed at Landstuhl. I would say it's highly unlikely.

It's usually 3-5 months from the time you are accepted to the time you start COT.

Thanks for your input! Do you have any recommendations of good bases for ICU nursing? For example, I know that Langley is a 6-bed ICU and oftentimes doesn't have ICU patients; this is not something I necessarily would put at the top of my list (I know ultimately I don't have control--I'm an AF brat as well). But I do want to try to get stationed overseas, even if Landstuhl isn't a possibility out of the gate. I hope to be CCATT as soon as I am able to have that opportunity.

If you have a decent amount of ICU experience coming in and perform well, then you should be able to do CCATT training after a year or two.

Really no ICU stateside has much in the way of acuity compared to a large civilian teaching hospital. San Antonio is probably the closest. Travis and Walter Reed are not bad either. Everything else is just a glorified step-down unit.

I am also applying for Sept 23 boards. Where are you at in the process?

My face-to-face interview is this upcoming Monday at 8am and I go to MEPS next week as well! What about you?

I did MEPS a month ago and had my interview 2 weeks ago. I picked my bases a few days ago and my packet is complete as far as I know. What COT date are you wanting? Jan or April?

I'm really hoping for January! you?

I put April on my packet but my recruiter said if there were spots open in Jan he would put me down. Where are you located?

Hi guys, I'm also applying for October's board. I'm very excited and can't wait to know! I have done everything except the phone interview. I have already done the face to face interview with a CNO, which went really well.

I know these months are going to go by so slow.

I never had to do a phone interview. I did a face to face with the CNO.
