Air Force NTP 2018

Hello, I saw that a lot of people talked about the USAF NTP 2017; looking for anyone who is applying for the 2018 year? And any information from those who have previously completed the program! Thanks!

I guess the only part I am really anxious about is making my goal weight for MEPS. Does anyone have any pointers? I am only about 8lbs off. All I hear is focus on cardio.

Nutrition is a big part of it and cardio. I didn't need to lose weight for meps but I wanted to shed some nightshift poundage and I lost like ten pounds in two months just eating like almonds, fruit, veggies and quest bars for snacks, lean meats and veggies for meals and doing my normal workouts. Not sure when you're physical is but honestly the fastest ( not healthiest) way to lose weight is doing the keto diet....

I may have to try it. I am counting calories and typically work out twice a day. My recruiter mentioned some pretty hardcore things but to not try them until the week before. Thanks for the info :)

your welcome! Good luck!

Can I get your recruiter's information? I'm in a similar situation. I graduated in 2012 with my ADN, and immediately moved to Okinawa. After Okinawa, we were sent to Australia. So, here I am, five years after graduation and never worked. I did pass my NCLEX. I am currently working on my BSN online, which will be done in less than a year. That will sync up with my husband's orders.

Hello everyone,

I graduate in May of 2018. My recruiter said that I would not start the application process until November or December of 2017. Does this sound accurate?

Also, I was wondering what I can do to make myself a very competitive candidate. My GPA is 3.8 and I volunteer for the Red Cross on base weekly. What other types of extracurricular activities are recommended? I have a previous Bachelor's degree in Business Management and my husband is AD-AF.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Hi everyone! I'm currently in nursing school, and I will be graduating in August with my BSN. I've already submitted all my paperwork to my recruiter and all of my LOR's have been sent in. I'm waiting to hear back from my recruiter about when my CN interview will be (he said it will be within the next 3 weeks). Does anyone know when the boards meet? If so, which boards will my application be reviewed under? I'm just a little confused about this whole process. Lol so any insight would be greatly appreciated!! :)

Do you have your ACLS or EGK cert? If not, you could that you. It'll make you more marketable. Plus, you're not just restricted to med/surg and can work on telemetry unit.

Hey everyone it looks like there are two different threads for this year's NTP.

I just finished my CN interview and my health professions recruiter has sent in my packet. Does anyone have an idea of how many applicants will be applying this year and how many spot are available? Based upon previous threads it looks like there are usually 5 spots for OB and 30-35 for Medsurg with almost 300-400 applicants. That's ridiculously competitive.

The answer you're looking for is on the first page of this thread.

Hey everyone! I am also applying this year for the NTP (Med/Surg)! Super anxious and uber excited to hear the results!

That sounds a little late, but not totally crazy. Your board doesn't likely meet until February or March. If selected, you would go going to COT in July-August time-frame.

I would ask your recruiter for the essay prompts and other paperwork now. There's no reason you can't start on that. Get your medical records together, such as shot records and any major surgeries. You'll need addresses and phone numbers from at least one person at every different address you've live at in the last 5ish years.
