I thought I'd share the official hotline# and help center url for those of you with questions about obamacare. I found talking to them very helpful with several questions I had about obtaining coverage in a state (Texas) that has opted out.

Thank You. I entered some information just to try it out. It appears employers don't have to offer insurance to part timers. I don't know exactly how many hours are part time. I heard 30 in the "media". The market place insurance premiums appear to be cheaper than the cobra I purchased some time ago. There also is an enrollment period for applying unless life events change and one qualifies otherwise. I think this is a good option for the uninsured.

I'm very excited about being able to bring down my premium cost of almost $12,000/yr High $2,500 deductible (I have to pay 100% of that before I receive any benefit) present plan with the subsidy and cost sharing offered. I am 57 with a pre-existing condition that makes impossible to change plans and since nursing school requires you to have health insurance it's been a financial burden on my family.

"Obamare" has a huge potential to impact many lives. It may lead to younger retirement for some. I work full time now, but someday hope to work part time and take advantage of a competitive healthcare market for my health insurance. I have noticed an increase in part time employment for RN's, without benefits, for some time. Perhaps related to a bad economy or less employment for RN's in general. I think that I may be more inclined to consider part time positions in the future if there is affordable health care available. I was hoping I could change jobs and take my healthcare insurance with me. However this does not appear to be the case or at least, it's not clear yet.
