how is the atmosphere at your mississippi hospital right now with the gov threatening to cut medicaid and wanting to tax hospitals, ours is ******* in their pants and are talking lay-offs. hell we have a crap full of positions we need to fill but now we have a hiring freeze on and so we must work with a skelleton crew longer. i can't believe i voted for that crooked s.o.b...

At my hospital, they have just placed all of the full-time Home Health/Hospice RN's on salary to cut out overtime.These nurses have been working 8-10 hrs of overtime just to get all of the work done, so they are not very happy. I'm still part-time so I get to keep my hourly pay. To make it even harder, we also have a hiring freeze and they are not replacing any of the nurses that leave. Main unit also talking lay-off's and not replacing positions of nurses that leave. What a mess. Yeah, I kick myself everyday for voting for him. I did vote against him this last time, but was a big supporter the first time. Also, the IHL ran out of funding, so no graduate students approved for loan/scholarship programs. Arggg

there are so many rumors going around in the hospital I work at . You just don't know what to believe. I heard that lay off was an option but we are short already . We were also told that each deptment needed to cut thousands off their budget to avoid possisble lay offs also. I hope the guys in the senate realize there are families that are being affected by their decisions and to stop playing games with each other and get serious.

I live in the northern part of MS (Desoto County) and so far have not heard anything about job cuts or layoffs.

I live in the Union/Lee county area. We have Baptist and NMMC hospitals here. So, does Baptist DeSoto not have a hiring freeze on?? That is one of the places I would be intrested in working part time or week-ends. The masters program I am in meets at the Ole Miss campus at Southaven.
