Congratulations. How long is your program?

And how much does it cost?
The program is 18 months, instead of 15 months. I opted for 18 months so I could get more hours in at work. The program is going to cost me about 12K.

Hi Dave,
I graduate from the LPN evening program in April, and I'm planning to start the RN (15mo) in August or so. The quote we were given for the cost of the program is almost twice what you've stated. I'm curious, have you done some of the coursework outside of Galen?
Thanks,
Kim :wink2:

Man, I'm really bummed now. Been here for over 2 years and never knew Galen had a bridge program, and I'm moving out of state this summer
Kim,
I took a lot of the pre-req's before starting the program. Also, I got PELL grants, so I'm only going by what my actual loan will be :)
How did you like the LVN program? Did you know they moved to a new campus?
They just started the LVN to RN program this past August. They have it also in Kentucky and Florida. Where are you moving?
Oh I see. That's what a few of us are planning to do this summer, I still need to knock out a couple of pre-reqs.
The new building is coming along nicely! We've got our Thursday night class there and it's a little spooky because it's so empty but the new library, skills lab, science lab and break areas are awesome.
To be honest, I would not recommend the evening LVN program. It was a mess and the right hand had no idea what the left was doing. We are graduating in spite of and not because of. I think a lot of the problem was because the RN program was starting up and that is where most of the energy was expended. Our classes are very small (we have 8 and the class ahead of us, the first ever evening program, has 5), and I get the feeling that they didn't think the evening program through well enough.
That said, I think it's a good school. They've got a lot of good instructors lined up for the RN program and they've made some changes for the better all around.
Where did you go to LVN school? Where do you work?
Kim
Oh Dave I almost forgot.....:ancong!:
I went to LVN school at Coastal Bend College in Pleasanton. They're an extension of the main campus in Beeville.
Currently, I work for a small acute care hospital off of Jones Maltsberger. Been there almost since I graduated. I learned a lot there :-)
How about you?
Me? I'm not working anywhere right now. I quit my job (military buyer) when I got accepted and now I am supermom by day, nursing student by night
I've been giving some thought as to where I want to work when I graduate because I plan to work through RN school. Sounds like you like your job, maybe I'll PM you...
What made you choose Galen?
