Hello,
Anyone applying to the Goodwin Fall 2022 program?
I just received my second rejection for the program but it’s OK!
I’ve been an LPN for over 10 years and had finally found enough courage to go back to school, while working full time AND with 2 young children, in May 2020. My job and life was becoming the hardest it had ever been but I had to stay focused! I havent taken any time off since so I just have a few non-nursing courses left through the BSN! Unfortunately, it means nothing if I can’t get into those nursing courses!
Anyway, its time to switch gears! I work for IHS as a Community Outreach Worker/LPN, and I am positive I have plenty to offer; whether it’s continuing to pursue nursing, or a degree in public health. Plus, I LOVE my job!
I am so excited for any of you who were accepted! It’s not an easy feat, so be SUPER PROUD! I may be back for an Accelerated BSN once I’ve earned a bachelors in public health…maybe not…but I can’t afford to keep chasing a program like this. It’s excellent, don’t get me wrong, but too much to apply a third time and pass up more affordable options.
Good luck, everyone! ❤️ I look forward to seeing all of you who received an acceptance packet!!
Same! Last semester the cutoff was 16, and I had 14. Now the cutoff was 17 and I had 16. I can't wrap my head around it. I'm extremely discouraged and don't think I'll try for the 3rd time. I got a 55 in the science portion on my first try on the TEAS, and this time around I got an 80! I literally gave it my all and it still wasnt good enough. There's nothing left. Congrats to everyone that made it!
I’m so sorry to hear y’all didn’t get in, but please don’t give up. Maybe take a break for a while, and try again next semester. If you can afford to, maybe try retaking the TEAS exam, or retaking a class if you think it’ll bump your GPA some more. I didn’t apply this semester like I wanted to bc I just wasn’t ready yet, but the thing is, is that it’s not a race either. I get not everyone has the flexibility in there life to wait around, but it’ll be worth it in the end if you can, because you have the rest of your life to become an RN. And if you can, try applying to community colleges or some of the state university programs too. Some of them look at more than just a “point system”, they also look at your experience and extracurricular activities, etc. If you get rejected, 4 times, just keep trying! Continue on with your life, but also keep trying to achieve this goal. I didn’t mean for this to be a corny motivational speech, but it’s just the truth. Don’t give up!

Thank you for the motivation. We will see what this semester brings, but I'm not getting any younger either. I might retake the TEAS, but after that I'm done.

I applied with 16 points and got accepted.
That's awesome! Congratulations! What was your GPA?
Yayyyy! Please let me know how it goes! It all needs to get done quickly after acceptance, so hopefully this helps ease the load.
Pretty soon after acceptance you’ll need to put a $500 deposit on your slot.
There will also be a background check to send in very quickly. It’ll have an earlier date than everything else so watch out for this!
You’ll need to provide proof of vaccination and/or immunization:
1. MMR (titer and proof of vaccine)
2. Hep B (titer and proof)
3. Varicella (titer OR proof)
4. TDAP (proof in the last 10 years; or 2 years for TD)
5. TB (skin test or QuantiFERON; if positive chest X-ray)
6.COVID vaccines (still only requiring 3)
7. Flu shot (by Oct. every year)
They do a drug test with Quest.
You’ll need to proof of health insurance, nursing student insurance (they tell you how to get it), and NSNA membership.
For class registration, there normally a day and evening class. For clinicals, you rank the labs/times/places and they place you.
