Good personality fit for nursing?

Published

I'm having a slight crisis here. For several years, I've been focused on nursing as a second career. It's a serious calling, and I truly feel like that's nursing is where I'm meant to be. However, I am very much on the introverted end of things. I'll be the first to admit that my interpersonal and conversation skills could be better. I'm aware that sometimes I can come off as abrupt and impatient. On the other hand, I do enjoy people (most of the time), I'm insatiably curious and highly analytical. I love a good problem to solve, and I'm not afraid to put in the work or the time to get things done.

Any advice for someone like me? Any areas of nursing where I could possibly thrive?

Thanks?

I'm like this, too. I think it's important to see your introverted nature as strength and learn to hone on the positive aspects of it because frankly, being seen as mean and asocial can easily make one alienated. Focus on being a good listener, anticipating the needs of others, and having a calm demeanor and presence. Instead of initiating awkward small talk, I show interest by asking questions about the person because everyone LOVES to talk about themselves. Through this, It's been easier for people to see me as friendly while quiet and tends to prefer time alone instead of completely standoffish.
