I am a high school junior with a definite interest in a 4 year nursing degree after graduation. My ADHD is pretty severe (controlled with meds). Looking for a good nursing college/university in Ohio that has a good ADHD learning support program. Not the best of grades (2.0) but marked improvement with recent rise in grades. Any suggestions for colleges/universities to research? Thanks!

I personally do not have ADHD, but I do have quite a bit of experience living with someone with it. I attend Columbus State and I think it is a good enviornment to start college in. Classes are small, usally no more than 25, and at the start of every quarter the prof will tell you to talk to them if you need any help. They have a department specifically for handling disabilities and from what I can tell they can do quite a bit. If you have a current IEP for school you would have a good idea what accomidations you might need. My son has Aspergers and I think it would be a great place for him to be when the time comes. It is not overwhelming there. Instructors are great! Good luck to you! PM me if you have any questions. Rachel
Thanks Rachel! I live in Columbus and am considering CSU as a possible school. My parents think I should do my first year there, live at home, and get a feel for college before I go away to school.
That sounds like good advice. It is also easier on the wallet! I think you will be glad you did. Please let me know how you like it. I would love to hear what you think of it from your unique perspective. It will come in handy for me in the future! Rachel

Wright State has an awesome Nursing Program, and an even better Office of Disability Services. They will provide to students with documented disabilities (learning or physical) many different ways for them to succeed, such as administering exams on a computer that talks for the seeing impaired, giving extra time for exams, providing writers for classes/exams for physically impaired. I went to WSU, and worked in the Disability Services office in the technology center where we format books onto CD's and braille. It's an awesome place, and I think it would be a good place for you to check out.

No matter where you go, there will be an office for disability services.
