Hello everyone. I nid ur help in finding a good Medical-Surgical Nursing book that I'll be needing this coming 2nd semester. Our school's using a manual which, for me, lacks a lot of info. For this sem, I've been reading MCN by Pillitteri aside from our manual. Hope someone can give me a good Med-surg book. Thanks a lot!

Medical Surgical Nursing by Lewis, Heitkemper and Dirksen
5th edition is coming this March of 2007. That's about it. It's complete. Regarding Brunner's, some say its not that informative. they opt for Black. But for me, Lewis' book has it all. Ang hirap hanapin niyan dito sa pinas! tsk
ehehehe:thankya:

have you actually read brunner and suddarth's? it helped me clarify stuff for my ms review questions for nclexrn...plus the cd that came with did helped big time..actually, you should not rely on one textbook alone...there are also other books that are available out there, as long as it's five years old or less, it does help. i suggest browsing on the pages first before purchasing it, because sometimes people will say one book is better, but there are a lot out there which pretty much contain good ms infos.

Medical-surgical By Black Is Also Good....
i've seen it and browsed it. it's good but not that good. i know alot of people who personally used it and well, didn't find it very resourceful. and by the way, it's you who said that one should not rely on one textbook alone, so technically you found it incomplete. regarding the book that i prefer, medical surgical nursing by lewis, heitkemper and dirksen 5th edition, it has all the information a nurse has to know regarding medical surgical nursing. try looking for it, you'll know what i'm talking about.
yeah, maybe you are right....i will try to look for it when i have a day off from work. yes, i said you shouldn't rely in one book alone, however, brunner is on top of my list...which fits my needs, however, i don't agree that your choice is the only book needed by a nurse in my opinion...if you are a working rn in the u.s., you will know what i mean..
