We all been there. Calling out is something that everyone has to go through at some point. There are some excuses that work and some that you shouldn't use. Share your thoughts on what works, the funniest, and what doesn't. Do you have a good excuse for not going to work?

"My pipes broke."

Once a coworker called from jail. She had arrived home drunk the night before, could not find her key, and used her handgun to shoot the doorknob off! She used her first phone call to call her husband, and they allowed a second call when she told them she was a nurse. This occurred 5 hours before her scheduled shift, so I doubt she would have been in any condition to work!

I am Home Health Nurse, my best excuse ever, "I am gonna get a late start today, S.W.A.T. is blocking my driveway and my street.....true story...I got out about an hour late....fortunately the standoff did not last long..

I woke up one morning after a storm to find a huge downed tree blocking the end of my road. Of course, the first question I got was "Can't you go out the other end?" Now, my supervisor once lived on the same street as me, so you'd think he would know it's a cup-de-sac and there is no other end! Did make it in in time to be able to give lunch relief to my coworkers.
