Just wanted to start a thread for people that are applying. This will be my second year applying to Gonzaga. Last year they had a record number of applicants. I've already submitted my application for this year.

I did too. My rejection letter said they’d had a record number of applicants and that most students don’t get in on their first try. I am optimistic this year, but with their small class size and me not being local, I’d say I am more pessimistic about my chances.

Was Gonzaga the only school that you applied to last year? I applied to four and each of them had record number of applicants.

I applied to a lot and most of them used similar language with “record number of applicants” being the tag line, but Gonzaga and Kaiser were the only programs to say applicants don’t typically matriculate with their first application.

Especially with such a small class size but whatever they're doing is working since they've only had 4 students not pass on the first try since 1979. Gonzaga is my dream school for that very reason plus the way that they have their classes set up. I like how they are still an integrated program instead of front loaded program while still being a DNP.

I agree. Hopefully we both get interviews. Have you read anything about the timeline or their interview style?

I looked back at last years thread and interview invites were sent out about a week and a half after the due date around September 12th with interviews in early October on the 8-10th. It sounds like the interview is pretty laid back with more of a get to know you style of questions (2 separate interview panels) but also containing a mock code. All this information is just what has been posted in previous threads by people that have interviewed.

A mock code eh? Interesting choice for an interview. I have four years ER background, hopefully I’ll be well prepared. Have you applied anywhere else? I reapplied to, and I am waiting to hear from LSU, and Gonzaga, quinnipac.

Same here, I was a Paramedic before becoming a RN so I have prehospital and ER experience.

I applied to Gonzaga, Bryan College of Health, Texas Christian, and Union University (interviewed there) last year. This year I've applied to Gonzaga, Mount Marty, and Bryan College of Health. I'll have a few more schools that I'll apply to as well but their applications haven't opened up yet.

I casted a wide net last year, got mostly rejected because of my lack of icu experience. I bombed the only two interviews that I had at USC and PITT. Hoping to start fresh this year with a whole host of new certs, having retaken some courses, and interview experience. I can honestly say I was underprepared for the interviews. I’ve been reviewing my pharmacology and ccrn/cen notes to have a better foothold this time around. I think we spoke during the last round of union’s application. The admission counselor said to reapply this year with a full year of icu.

I went back and looked at the Union thread from last year and saw that you applied for the 2nd admission period. How much experience did you have the last time that you applied? I believe I have a much better shot this year than I did last year but I am also casting a wider net as well and applying to a few more programs than I did last year. Where are you located at if you don't mind me asking?

I live in California and started in the icu last November. Been a nurse 4 years, Emt, phlebotomist, I have a ton of degrees. And certs. I interview terribly though.
