Hi, I'm a nurse from the Philippines and I'll be going to Somerset this October and work as an RN at CNJJHA. I have a 10 year old son who is in Grade 4. My employer will provide free housing for the first 3 months. But I'm already looking at the possible towns near somerset with good schools where I can rent an apartment and safely raise my child. Would love to hear your suggestions.
This is just one of my many concerns and I'll surely ask more of your advices in the future.
Thanks in advanced.

Somerset County is a fairly expensive area (most of central NJ is). Be prepared for some high prices.
The town of Somerset has good areas and bad areas. The school is okay. There are some nice private and religious schools nearby though.
Bridgewater and Hillsborough are nice towns that are nearby. The apartment prices are probably about as reasonable as you are going to get. Schools in those towns are pretty good. North Brunswick is also a pretty decent area. There is a large Filipino population in the town of Raritan which is not a bad town. It's an older area which a busy downtown area but I'm pretty sure they use Bridgewater public schools which are good.
Lots of luck in your search!
