Hello Everyone,
I didn't see any threads for the GMU's ABSN 2019 cohort and wanted to start one. Please feel free to share your experience, journey, stats, issues, questions, and hopefully acceptance.
The GMU's website now says the BSN application is finally open, but I'm still unable to create an account to start my application. They have been experiencing some technical difficulties with their website. Very frustrating, but I'm both hopeful and excited about applying.
Best of luck to everyone applying.

I just checked mine as well mine is 12 steps total and step 9 is under review and says completed. So I don't know guys ?
hey guys, so this sure has been one hell of an emotional rollercoaster! I applied to the Second Degree Accelerated BSN program. and last week Wednesday, I got a letter from the GMU transfer admissions that said I wasn't accepted. I powered through the rest of the week. could hardly get out of bed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. and then just an hour ago (9:30pm EST) I got a message from the BSN program that I've been waitlisted (!). This is a sudden improvement from last week! Is there anything I should do or anyone I should speak to about this?? I'm applying to Marymount as a backup (to start in summer '20).
I scored a 92 cumulative score on the HESI. GPA/transcripts are complicated because i have 3 transcripts over the span of 11 years.
For everybody who got in, congratulations and best wishes!
@megtown and @Tracey Lee Congratulations on getting waitlisted! I wish you two the best!
I did not get accepted into the ABSN program, so it’s good to have backup plans. I applied to other schools for Fall 2019, so my waiting continues.

My friend was in the same situation and she was informed by bsnapps that you need both acceptances to be granted a seat in the class.
First off, congratulations to everyone that was accepted or wait-listed. And for those that may be disappointed, don't give up!
I don't think I've posted in this forum yet, but I've been stalking the whole time lol. I have been checking my email and this forum every day for a month. But yesterday was particularly busy at work so of course I didn't see my decision email until this morning. I am ecstatic to say that I was accepted! But mainly I really want to let future applicants know that there is hope.
I graduated from JMU with a final GPA of 2.54. Not. Good. I went through some hard times in college and it definitely showed. I applied to VCU's ABSN after graduation, but I didn't get in. I was sooo disappointed, and I thought I just wasn't qualified for any ABSN program due to my low GPA. I didn't even want to apply to GMU because I thought it would be a waste of time.
But thankfully, I decided I had to at least try. I applied to GMU as my top choice, NOVA CC RN program as my second choice, and Marymount as my last resort (due to the insanely high price).
I don't know exactly what made my application successful, but I can provide all the detail I think might have been helpful to me despite my GPA. I made A's and B's in all of the pre-reqs. My HESI score was a 97.2% overall, and each section was over 90%. One recommendation letter was from a college professor of a 400 level class which I made an A in. The other was from my current supervisor. I spent hours making my video with probably over 100 takes so that I barely looked away from the camera. And I've always considered myself to have strong writing skills, so I think the essay was fine.
I am honestly not saying this to compliment myself. I just want people to know that GPA is not the end-all for an application. If you struggled in college like I did, then you have to bust your *** to prove that you have improved yourself since then. I believe their biggest concern is attrition. They need to know that you can put the time in to the program and be successful. I tried to emphasize this everywhere I could.
I really hope that this is helpful to someone out there that may be in the same place I was. Again, congratulations to everyone that applied. Honestly, completing the application was difficult enough. Everyone should be proud for putting themselves out there. And if you didn't get in this time, don't lose hope like I almost did.
Good luck to those applying next year!
@mbidgood Congratulations on your acceptance into the program! I wish you all the best!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding your journey to this moment. They will be with me throughout the next days, weeks, months that I have to wait for decision letters from the same schools I applied to as you for backup options to arrive.
Here’s a video my husband sent me this morning that he watched at his weekly team meeting today. I certainly needed it.

@NEC2014 The same thing happened to my application and mine now says the exact same thing as yours. However, you were the only other person I found that had thirteen steps instead of 12 so who knows what it means. Hoping it's nothing bad but who knows at this point! I have not heard anything yet.
