Gloves and injections

The nurse at a local Walgreens is giving flu shots with naked hands. Some of my friends are FREAKED OUT, some don't figure it's a big deal. What IS the deal? Bad medicine or no biggie?

This will be unpopular but true of me:

Honestly, I've done flu clinics for years - most of the time you have people line up out the door and gloving and degloving between shots is impractical. Unless I have a cut or otherwise broken or cracked tissue on my hands, it's not worth it. Granted, I always make sure there is a box available. Also - it's more likely (for me anyhow) to get a needle stick with the clean needle. After the shot, the safety device is immediately activated and it goes right into sharps.
