Gloves to draw up medicine

Published

I graduated in 2015 and was taught the CD does not require gloves to draw up meds. My current fellow nurses disagree. Can anyone corroborate what I was taught?

Please use common sense! Skin has the ability to absorb substances, getting into the habit of wearing gloves will lower the risk to you.

No one I know uses gloves unless they are working with chemo.

I've been around long enouigh to remember when we didn't wear gloves all the time. However in psych we have a lot of medications that can absorb into the skin so I do wear gloves for some med passes and emergency medications.
