  1. Please use common sense! Skin has the ability to absorb substances, getting into the habit of wearing gloves will lower the risk to you.
  2. How about addressing the problem of having to wade through water during the operation!! There are soaker mats that can be used, paddle vac's and if you get desparate you can put a bucket under the op table and tuck the drapes into the bucket to catch the flow of water from the op site! Brain storm with others to address the problem!
  3. Are you a member of a Nurse's union? If so seek their help! Where I come from it is permisable to distanced yourself from a situation that threaten's your registration. We as Nurse's are the patient's advocate and must fight for their safety!
  4. Congratulations! If you are truely interested in the IC position then you will excel. Do your own research and use evidence-based practices to solve problems. Always abide by the guidelines that govern your hospitals location. Network with others in your area that are employed in similar positions. Undertake further education in IC and management. Above all use common sense! Good luck!
