Glove alergys

Published

I would like to know if there are other operating room nurses that have become very allergic to all the types of gloves like I have, including latex, nitrile and vinyl. It had ended my 25 year career.

I have a latex allergy, the place I work brought in non latex gloves (sterile) problem solved

Have you been tested for the above allergies? If not, I wonder if it was the handwashing soap.

Scrub tech I work with has the same issue.

I have an allergy to some soap, so I have to be careful...hibiclens is one. I also will not use latex gloves with powder. They come in some of our packs, well the docs and techs won't use them, so they send them to me for preps. I can't/won't use them. Gives me a rash just thinking about it.

As resumeCPR wrote, the key is to be allergy tested.

Latex accelerators may be the "culprit" in regards to your allergies.

Thiuram is one chemical accelerator that helps with the "curing" of the rubber, latex, or possibly the vinyl..

You may have an allergy to an accelerator & the testing may help you get your job back. It helped be keep mine.

Allegiance has gloves free of this (duraprene) try these!!!:flwrhrts:

Hope this helps
