Is anyone taking this course ?

I'm going to take this course during Spring 3rd session.

I'm taking 2 pre req courses at Cincinnati State (semester version) which are way easy, and I feel like I can fit another one in. Just wondering how much work this one is.

Uh-Oh- I have just paid for this class. If you figure out a way to make it through, let me know.

I noticed several people dropped out of this class as posted on FACEBOOK Ohio RN to BSN academic outreach group. Good luck cincinursemary.

Has anyone taking Global Health started the paper yet? The directions seen easier than the DB's? Any input would be of help, since it is worth a huge portion of our grade

I'm starting this class March 25th. Any advice to get off on the right foot?

Well I just got my grades back from week 2. I rocked it. The class is a lot of work. Since this was the first class I'm sure we are the "test" group. Week 3 is the heaviest. Follow the directions for DB as they may be little different than nursing courses. It is doable!

How many hours did you put in over a week? What was the hardest part?

Well honestly writing never comes very easy to me. Plus I'm kinda of a perfectionist. I probably spend 16-20 hrs on it. However, the DB's require 4-5 paragraphs. But in order to meet all the rubric requirements and answer all questions w/supporting material usually takes me 3 pages. There are 2 DB's each week, then 4 responses,to peers w/ more supporting data and a weekly timed test over the material. Really should be a 4 credit hr course.

I agree with you healthlink97. I spend much more time on this class than any other I have in the past. Very time consuming. I also find it difficult to post to the DBs with only 4-5 paragraphs. I am generally around 3 pages as well. Usually between reading and researching each DB, I would say I spend 8-10 hours on each one.

It is crazy the amount of work. I enjoy the topics but they really need to whittle it down or make it a full semester class. Have you started the global health report?

OMG what did I get myself into???:arghh:

yes, due date is postponed again until next Sunday. The paper entails the same information as do the discussion boards. My discussion boards also have been very lengthy. This class entails way too much. As it is not enough time in the day.

Almost finished with the paper. Again, I am having a hard time making it with what seems to be the "minimum". I have >10 references so far and still more to go. I am finding that as I go, the information that I find just keeps getting to be more and more. I do really like the topics but putting 25ish hours a week is way too much. I wish I knew how to scale it back a bit but I am afraid if I do my grades will suffer. 2 more weeks left.

So now that you are just about done, any words of wisdom in getting through? Organizing material, what can be skipped, what the professor is like, etc??

Are there tests? Please tell me you didn't hate this class!

I didn't hate the material. Very interesting. There are weekly quizzes worth 9% of your grade over readings(usually 3 chapters a week). The discussion boards are intense instead of 4-5 paragraphs you end up writing 3-4 Pages a DB and there is one due on Thursday and one due Friday then 4 responses due Sunday. Seems to be inconsistency w/TA's. I have an A and with the extra credit they are offering I likely will do awesome. I put forth 20-25 hrs a week on this class.
