I am excited to start asap, so waiting for a less expensive option is just not something I would like to do. At 26 thousand, and a NCLEX average pass rate of 77%, do you think this is a good school? I hope some of you have been there, and can give me some insight on the program. Also, if you can give me an idea of their NCLEX percent, is it good enough to be considered a good school to be a graduate from. I have heard that the pass rate of the school is about the most important factor that companies consider when they hire a graduate from a particular school.

Thank You! I have somany questions. First of all how is it going with the taking the NCLEX and getting hired? Are you happy about becoming an LVN, and your choice to go to GCC? I was really interested in if this is a good school, and how honest they are about the hours of class/clinicals. I really cant have my clinicals on week ends or much different hours than 9 - 3. Now that you graduated, how prepared do you feel to be a nurse? Thank you for giving me the feedback, it seem like not many people on this thread have gone/are going to GCC.

Actually I haven't taken the Nclex yet. I actually recieved my Nclex registration packet in the mail today. To be quite honest, I am happy I decided to go the LVN route. I the think the experience of LVN school gave me a taste of what is to come when I start RN school this coming August. For the most part, GCC is a good school. The instructors I had were all amazing! The class schedule is generally from 9am-3:30 (this was my schedule) and my clinical schedule varied depending on the locations..sometimes i would have clincals on sundays from 2pm-11pm and other times i would have clinicals from 7am-3:30 in Lincoln Heights.. The class is usually divided into two clinical groups and then you do a lottery selection to determine which clinical site you are assigned to..Usually you are allowed to switch clinical sites with other students if they are willing.. At GCC you must maintain a minimum of 80% in all of the 4 levels. anything below and you are placed on probation and most likely if you dont bring it up you are terminated..

My class started with 47 students and ended with 18. Its a hard program but also very rewarding..I do feel like GCC's instructors did right by me and my class..

Hope this helped :D

Hello everyone!

Wow..there's lots of info going back and forth about GCC and North-West College! Thought I'd jump on to help clarify things.

My name is Donna Guisado, and I am the Director of Education/Compliance for both GCC and North-West College. If you ever attended our Orientation, then you've met me! :wink2:

First, let me say that GCC was never closing because of the nursing rates! That's just not a fact! The previous owners, Landmark, just didn't want to be in the school business any more. So that's where North-West College came in and helped GCC stay open and continue. Change can always be tough, but GCC is going strong!

How about contacting either the GCC campus director Serjik or myself to answer some of these questions? We're totally open to hearing what you have to say...and would honestly welcome it! Call 1-800-NEW-CAREER to contact either Serjik or me. Here are our emails as well: Serjik - [email protected] or Donna - [email protected]

Best wishes to all of you who have done so well in pursuing your nursing careers! We're so proud of you...

Take care and have a fantastic Memorial Weekend!

Donna G.~
