My mother recently had an ablation and wants to send her nurses a gift. What did you enjoy receiving the most? What limitations are there? I think it cannot be expensive and no fresh flowers...am I right? Thanks for your help.
Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager.
When I worked overnights in the ED we had one of the long time cardiology attending's son under our care. The doctor was impressed with our care & treating his special needs son with such dignity & professionalism. He approached the charge nurse about many of the staff. His son was there into the beginning of the day shift.
Two weeks later we (nights) heard breakfast was delivered for the day shift from the doctor & his family on behalf of his son.
We often had a lull around 10:30pm. Of course there was grumbling that we did most of the care, etc. 10:45 the physician and his wife appeared at the ED doors opened the back of their SUV with a full spread of gourmet Italian sandwiches & paninis, salads, trays of mini pastries & cookies, gourmet Italian sodas. While he was nearing retirement, he still recalled his early days as an intern & resident and how nights were often forgotten by administration.
