LOL, that DOES sound funny...I should have made myself more clear...I meant "summer reading," before actual classes start.:)

Outside reading in nursing school :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

If she has a hobby, encourage it by may be a gift cert to continue that hobby. It is very important to have an outlet. I just graduated in May, it took me 4.5 years to get my BA degree and during that time I did not make time for hobbies. I regret that. I also can't wait until after I take the NCLEX so I can read a book that doesn't require any brain power.

A mini cassette recorder to tape lectures. Most instructors do not object. Text is sometimes harder to absorb than hearing it covered in a lecture, and tests are based on the lectured material also.

My favorite was a Littman master classic II steth with my initials engraved on the chestpiece. Helps it from "walking" away.:uhoh21: You might want to check with the school before buying-some only allow a certain type of steth.

A nice bookbag, preferably with wheels and a handle, with which she can tote her books and other necessities that previous posters have so thoughtfully suggested.

If she hasn't started her crazed buying of every nursing reference yet.....might I suggest a Taber's and Mosby's drug reference cards, both really useful to a nursing student!

And the massage idea is great, too :) .

How about a weekend gift certificate for some quiet hotel she could use for getting away from it all or for a quiet place to study for that next big exam. I did it three times during school. Even hosted a study group. No kids, no phones and room service!
