Gift for a new grad nurse

I am currently precepting a young new grad RN. I have known her since she was in nursing school and I know she is destined for a great career.

I would like to get her some small gifts for when she gets off orientation. I remember when I was a new nurse, one of the preceptors I had gave me a "dog tag" with my name on it that I could put on my pair of scissors in case they walked off.

I was thinking of getting her a pretty badge clip with a monogram of her initials (she has a couple of things like this, so I know she would like this), maybe a fancy pair of bandage scissors.

Any other ideas?

I always appreciate a good coffee mug :)

A pin light that locks on to your badge....hemostats.

I like the idea of the badge holder! You could also put together a gift basket of useful items: some extra fine tipped gel pens like these or a multicolored pen like this, a sharpie marker, some chapstick, a tube of good hand lotion, some nutrition bars, and some badge cards that list normal lab values and other references like these.

My mom got me a tervis cup with "Nurse" and a stethoscope on it after I graduated. It meant a lot to me because it shows people know how hard you've worked and they support you!

I agree with the coffee mug! I received a small kit with a penlight, scissors, and a pen when I graduated. Loved it!

Etsy has some absolutely adorable nurse things that you can get personalized. A friend of mine just graduated and I got her this really cute sticker for her car with her initials inside of a stethoscope. Highly recommend etsy for gift giving!

I just bought a badge clip with the monogram (and some cute charms/beads on it) for her and I did find an Etsy shop that has a nursing theme etched personalized wine glass (I know she likes wine, so I might buy her some wine to go with it!) for her.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone!

Not sure why this was moved to Nurse First Job Hunt board. I am not helping her find a new job. It's a gift.
