GGC spring 2019-Georgia Gwinnett College

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I have been reading previous year threads like a mad woman and wanted to start one for the upcoming spring semester. If anyone is applying for spring 2019, we can share our stats and ask any questions here.

For me,

overall gpa: 3.89

science gpa: 4.0

teas: 91.3

volunteer hours: 250

I also had a question for anyone that has already submitted their application, the professor that is writing my letter of recommendation does not have a chance to write it until school starts and I'm stressing about the spring deadline, can I submit the majority of my application now and then add my letters of recommendation as they come?

Hope to see some of you in the spring, fingers crossed!

Mindz is right. The teas counts for 40% during admissions. My friend just got her acceptance and she had a 4.0 and high 80's TEAS. I don't know any more people that got in though, sorry! It was my understanding that they send out denials along with acceptances so not hearing back might not be a bad sign. Good luck, I hope you get in!

Does anyone know if any denial letters have gone out and if all acceptance letters have been sent out?

Last semester they sent some denial letters out the same week they sent out acceptance letters. I had a friend who got neither when I had gotten my acceptance and others had received denials, and when she called to check, they told her she would hear something in 3 weeks or so. The time line they told her was after the deadline I had to pay to hold my spot, so we assumed that the reason she hadn't received acceptance or denial was because she had made the "wait list" for the spots that people may end up declining. I don't think GGC has an official wait list, but that's what we assumed. She eventually received a denial about 3 weeks later. Good luck yhoko, I know it's nerve wracking!

@caitlinw, Can you share your first semester experiences? what was your daily schedule like and what time did your first/last class start/end? Are the clinical part of first semester and which hospital are they conducted in? Thanks!!

Congrats to those who got accepted! I am a current nursing student at GGC. If you have any questions about the acceptance process or anything, feel free to message me!

Lilyhan, I sent you a pm about your question. I'm also a GGC student and I know I was very stressed before I started too!

Hey everyone and congrats to those who have made it in! I have a quick question for those who are applying or applied. I notice on the site that they specifically state no sciences can be done the summer before a fall application. Do you know if this applies to the Spring as well? Meaning, if I'm applying for spring entry would I be able to take a science pre-req in the Fall? I'm not finding a straight answer anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

I don't believe it applies to spring. My mentor told me that I couldn't apply for fall semester because I was in my last science that spring and she held me back a whole semester for no reason. I was told that you can be accepted with an in progress science contingent on the success in that course. However, I would email nursing admissions just to verify!

All that just means that you can't take more than 2 sciences the semester before the one you're applying to and you can't take any of the upper level science courses in the summer (A&P, Micro etc). At least that's what they had told me. I was going to apply to Spring 2018, and I could have because I only needed Physiology and microbiology to do that fall. But I didn't because of other reasons. They told me I could have done it since I had less than 2 sciences left. Had it been 3 sciences, they wouldn't have let me.
