getting slammed by your travel agency

On here, I don't know. I sometimes get so overwhelmed with this site. I love it, but there is SOOO much info on here, I tend to get sidetracked really easy.

How many of you travel nurses out there get to your assignment only to find out the other travelers are making a lot more? Some agencies apparently pocket bonuses and other incentives to increase their profits. Is there a forum that rates travel agencies?

Try going to delphiforums.com Under that go to their Travel Nurses & Therapists board. Lots of info there on all the companies, keeping in mind that it is opinion, as well as hospitals, cities, apts., general traveler related converstion, etc. From that board there are links to several other travel nurse sites (check the drop down list in the upper right corner of the screen on that site) that specifically were created just to review travel companies. (I can't remember the site names for them all to post here, but know you can get to them easily from the delphi site)

there is good info on delphi; as well as here. keep in mind some of the ratings are based on what tavel companies want you to know. on this site, as well as delphi, you can talk with the travelers directly.

there is no substitute for doing your research. talk with several companies through word of mouth and recommendations. keep notes, keep them together for future reference, and know these issues do change so update the info each time you want a new assignment.

allnurses does not allow recommendations of recruiter info. there are several reasons we do not allow this including the potential for posters to solicite their agency and recruiter info for the benefit of a bonus (it happens).

I forgot how "busy" Delphi is; it is a lot to sift through. I also forgot how you have to watch who you are talking to. There are several people who post who are Recruiters; most do have their advertising as their signature line.

There are also many Forums there that are put together by Recruiters and Travel Agencies, again rather hard to sift through. There are many Forums, good and those you have to watch. Delphi can be a great Forum and so is AllNurses.

Nothing... nothing takes the place of having done your homework. Each company makes about the same; it is up to you, the Nurse (after all WE are the commodity) should get the most financial benefit. In addition, you want to make sure you are NOT going to work for a Facility that will readily put YOUR license on the line so their bottom lline (often it is $$$) is met. Not all facilities are bent in the wrong direction but how does one know without asking?

We ALL got through Nursing School; if we can do THAT we can, practically, do anything. If we are not able to negotiate our best contract ourselves then do your HOMEWORK and get a company who can represent YOU. There is no reason to do a Travel contract quickly, especially, if you have not done this before.

I am so honored to be a part of this team of Nurses who really care about helping other Nurses get the best information. Here we do it for Travel Nurses, not because we are getting a bonus, or incentive but because that it is what we do. What we ask in return is to do the same for us or... pay it forward...
