I will be graduating in May. I can't believe NS is almost over for me! I really have no idea where I want to work yet. I'm leaning towards OB but I'm not 100% certain. I'm at the top of my class and do well in clinicals, but I still doubt myself and my skills all the time. I'm getting really scared!! I'm excited too, but more scared I think. The mere thought of the NCLEX terrifies me! I know it's normal to be scared and nervous. I've heard so many horror stories about what it's like in the "real world". Does anyone have any positive things to share? I guess I just need some reassurance :uhoh21:

Deep breath!
Try to do some sharetime on an OB or L+D floor. Try to do more than 1 day and this will give you a good idea of how the unit is run and if you feel as if that is the "area" for you.
Trust me we ALL feel as if we are lacking in skills when we graduate!
GOOD LUCK with your FINAL semester!

RN2BE3385, I'm in the same boat as you. I also graduate in May and am terrified about being a nurse in the real world. Don't stress tackle obstacles and challenges as they come one by one. First and foremost I plan to focus on finishing assignments for school and probably study NCLEX questions for 1 hour about 2 or 3 times a week. I plan to test and work in Texas and I just found out a few days ago that if I don't pass the NCLEX by September 1, 2008 that I have to pass another test called Texas National Jurisprudence Exam (NJE) with 75% score to be licensed as an RN in Texas. I figure roll with the punches, jump through all the hoops, to make it to the final goal of having RN behind your/my last name. Just be glad that we're almost done and that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and congrats that we're almost done.
Oops, NJE acutally stands for Texas Nursing Jurisprudence Exam.
