So I've started getting ready for Fall planting. In California I can plant all year except November and December when I am stating seeds in the house. Started turning soil and adding compost and wood ashes. seeds for Winter crops broccoli, cauliflower, Kholrabi and cabbage should arrive this week in time for my weekend off?

Harvesting last of my tomato plants: 3 cherry and 1 better boy. Son told me to pick a large better boy earlier in week, told him to leave it till next day -- greedy squirrel ate it! Chef son's herb plants did well until 2 caterpillars discovered his parsley plant that I had revived with watering-- ate it down to stalks overnight last week. No outside Winter garden in my PA area unless cold frame.
Enjoy your Winter bounty planting.
I use fairly natural methods, though not organic. Didn't have much luch with tomatoes this year a beef stake I bought put on a whole buch of grape sized purple tomatoes. I even contacted the seller to see if the plant had been mislabled. They told me they don't grow purple cherry tomatoes and don't know anyone that does suggested cold nights and not enough nitrogen in the soil. Added peas to my compost heap and an soon as they flowered I turned them over to set some nitrogen in the soil. We'll see what happens next year.

My peppers, herbs, and egg plants are still growing well. My tomatoes (Better Boys, Big Boys, and Beef Steaks), Zucchini and Squash are done. I am breaking down those plants and replacing them with Greens, Green Beans, Snow Peas, and whatever else I can plant this Fall. ?
