At my community college district, a 'W' grade is regarded as neutral, meaning it does not count for or against your grade point average. However, having way too many 'W' grades might not look good when applying to a nursing program, because it may indicate a pattern of not following through with completing classes.
I wouldn't sweat it.
If it was from your early years, and you've shown vast improvement from then, they'll know "the real you."
Take it from me. I literally had 19 W's on my transcript from the five years I spent on my first degree (also had 9 major changes, yikes!)
From the time I started back in 2003 to the time I graduated in 2006, I had straight A's. I always made sure to include on my application why the W's/C's were there, and that I know where my mistakes were.
Good luck!!

So back when I was just starting to take my prereqs...I registered for a class, never attended and then waited too long to drop it. I basically just didn't know how the process worked. My mistake but not a malicious one.
So now I have a "W" on my transcript.
I have been assuming their is nothing I could do about it, but now I'm thinking about writing the community college to see if they would consider erasing it, just this one time obviously.
Does anyone know anything about this?
How bad does a "W" look?
Thanks for any advice.
