Getting a job with NO experience

Published

Can any of you give me advice on getting a job with NO medical exp? :uhoh3: I just graduated Saturday(LPN) :balloons:and I am starting the process of looking for a job. Unforuantly in addition to not having exp I have also taking 6 years off(being a SAHM) and I am also 15 weeks pregnant. So I am not expecting getting a job to be easy but I NEED a job in a big way. I tried to write a resume but I realize I don't have much to put on it(2 previous jobs and my LPN school) Thanks so much for all the advice you can give.

You know, the biggest problem with every job seeker is the lack of experience. But you would be surprised to find out that there are actually many things you have done in the past which can be considered as part of your working experience. It's just the way you word everything

:welcome: and:balloons: congrats on your graduation!

I think if you are wanting experience and a job ASAP, a nursing home is your best bet, or a LTC facility of some sort. That way, you get some time under your belt and can decide- after the bambino appears ;)-- if you want to continue there or try for a hospital/home health position.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies I took both of your advice and I have several job interviews lines up for long termed care. they seem less strict about needing exp.

You know what, you just graduated from an acredited nursing school, passed clincals and exams and passed the NCLEX. That is something to be VERY proud of and you need to see yourself of deserving of ANY job out there that you may want. When you apply as a "new grad", people know you don't have nursing experience, and even if you never worked as an Aid, so what, you are a Licensed Nurse!! That speaks volumes. Go into your interviews confident and unapologetic!!! You don't have to be ashamed of your lack of anything, you have already proven yourself by getting where you are. Present yourself as confident and competent (which undoubtedly, you are) and BE YOURSELF!!! New grads get hired all the time, and often are more desirable because they haven't picked up any bad habits!!!

See yourself as successful and you will be!!!!

Please please PLEASE don't forget you just spent a year (or more maybe) in school in CLINICAL! This is experience my nursing friend!

I started off in a community hospital on a M/S floor for the last seven months and have seen SOOOO much and gotten a ton of experience, and I walked in there with 2.5 years of clinical and seven years of waitressing under my belt.

I also know that the new hospital I am going to (moving for family) is also GN/GPN friendly and it is right in the heart of Atlanta :)

Don't underestimate your schooling as experience.

Congratulations on your graduation and your new family member!
