:welcome: and:balloons: congrats on your graduation! I think if you are wanting experience and a job ASAP, a nursing home is your best bet, or a LTC facility of some sort. That way, you get some time under your belt and can decide- after the bambino appears -- if you want to continue there or try for a hospital/home health position. Good luck!

In my 14 years as a nurse, I have worked in 5 states, and ALL of them have had LV/LPN's in units- ALL of them. The hospitals did require lots of experience, and provided extra training, but some of the best nurses on those units were the LPN's :) I think in today's lawsuit ahppy society , though, those days are numbered and dwindling. If that is your passion, ask to go there PRN , see what you think ,and if the staff likes you, see if the hospital will help you further your schooling. Ya never know.......

The pay here is much lower than what I made, fresh out of school in 1993, in New Orleans. The cost of living here is higher, but I think that patience is a virtue in this case- it might take some reform and some protesting from us- but I see it happening. Just as an aside, are there nursing unions in Florida??

I just moved here and don't have any great recommendations- I live about an hour from you:)- but I would suggest signing on with an agency, so you can "visit" a few places, make better $$ and see what you like. That way, you are not locked into anything and can decide for yourself, from a working point of view. Good luck and welcome!:welcome:
