Getting discouraged about nursing school....

Nurses General Nursing

Hi...

please someone say something positive about nursing school...... I am currently taking my pre-req and will take the NET after the Spring 09 semester. It took me a long time to get back into school and make a career change, (by the way, most of my support came from members on this website, for which I am forever grateful) but now all I hear is the negative aspects about nursing school. Mostly that you will have no life, family or friends for the next few years...is this true? I am getting discouraged and wondering if I made the right decision. I guess I am just getting anxious about the whole process.

Please... anyone have any advice on how to stay positive, it can't be all that bad,can it? I would think it is worth it in the end, right???

Nursing school is tough and there will be times where you will be buried under piles of book and you may be forced to cancel your date or girls night out...but if your boyfriend/friends really care about you they will stick with you until you survive nursing school.Nursing school is tough and you have to be hard worker and have a self-discipline but also it is a very positive experience and so worth it.

I also wanted to add that while you may not see your regular friends that much, you will make tons of new friends in school. I can honestly say that there is not one person in my class that I don't like and I'm so greatful to be surrounded by smart, kind, funny and hard working women like myself. You will not be alone in this journey!

This is so true! We are a tight group here too! We have exactly the same class schedule so everyone is on the same wavelength. I talk to at least two of them each day even if class is not in session.

Plus, I swear I have examined one part or another on at least half of my classmates! (maybe one person's ears, another person's eyes, listening to someone's murmur, taking their blood pressure) Funny how that makes you feel closer to them! :chuckle
