Getting commissioned as a Nurse

Published

Specializes in ICU.

Hello, my name is Samuel Adesemoye. I am currently in the airforce reserves, E3.

I am also a junior at Midwestern state University studying Nursing. I wanted to know my options about commissioning in the Airforce and if i can get scholarships while still in College. I already looked into the NECP program but i didn't meet all the requirements because i am not active duty. I have also contacted a recruiter, I haven't gotten any response

Good evening! I have moved your post to the government/military forum to ensure maximum responses. Hopefully someone will have some ideas for you, but I suspect you will have to apply after graduation and passing the NCLEX.

Can you get deployed? This will qualify you for the GI bill. I don't know anything about ROCT but is that a possibility? You should be able to commission after you get your degree. I would just finish school without any obligation and use your paycheck to pay off school loans. Good luck.

Hey Samuel, I'm going through Nursing school at Midwestern State University as well, and I'm curious if you've tried seeking more information on the Air Force website. U.S. Air Force - Apply Now. Like you, I too would like to join the Air Force as a Nurse, and I think it would be awesome to open up a dialogue between each other, like maybe facebook, so we can pool our info together. What do you think?

Midwestern State in Wichita Falls? If so, small world.

Sure, of course

Awesomeness! I can be tracked down on Facebook by searching for "Jesus NMN Martinez", under "people". Sorry about the late reply! And I received a fast reply from my Nursing Corps recruiter, I just need to give him a call when I get the chance. Oh, and there are three people in my Facebook Profile pic with a beach in the background, but the beach is kinda hard to see... We're all wearing blue shirts.

You're more than welcome to add me too, Texlac. It would be nice to talk to people that are Wichita Falls natives.
