NGCSU Cumming\Alpharetta Location to be Revealed This Week

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

For those of you waiting with bated breath as I am for the revelation of the exact location for the ASN Cumming\Alpharetta (NGCSU) this fall, the latest word I got from them this morning is that they will know for sure by the end of this week.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.....:)

O.K. just spoke to the Nursing Dept. No definate location yet, but "Looking good in Marietta area." I believe it is in Marietta, Yeeea!!!

Letters will be sent beginning of June (1st wk) regarding this and orientation.

I will be going to CPR class at Kennestone on Saturday the 18th if any one would like to join me call this number (770-956-7827) for the class. Ask for healthcare providers CPR.

Hey, Shukry! Thanks for the CPR info! I will be calling and registering for that class, too. Hopefully, we can meet each other, and others in our upcoming "Class of 2007." I think the location is almost definitely North Metro Tech -- according to the individual I spoke to in the nursing department on Thursday -- which is AWESOME for me. (Very close.) I'm guessing that they are getting sick of so many phonecalls in the nursing department about this -- lol. Oh well. I will say, however, that they (the nursing department) have expressed extreme apologies and sympathy towards our whole class, when I have called. So, that makes me feel a lot better. It's just very embarrassing to say "Hey, guess what?! I'm going to nursing school in the Fall! Yippeee!" And then to hear "Oh, that's great! Where are you going to be attending classes?" And then to have to say --"Well, I'm not really sure, yet..." -- Etc., etc. Hopefully, everything will get finalized and things will just fall into place with our program, from this point forward. :yeah:

Do you think we'll be doing clinicals at Kennestone and Cobb General? Also, anyone know the exact date we start classes, yet? I know orientation is in August --do they wait to start actual classes after Labor Day? (I'm asking because I was summoned for jury duty on August 8th. :uhoh3: )

According to the NGCU calendar, school starts Aug. 16th. The nursing dept. orientation as I was told is on the 18th.

I just got my packet of information from NGCSU and we have Advisement & Registration on August 15 and Orientation on August 17th. I assume this is for all NGCSU Nursing Students, as I was accepted for the Gainesville campus. Hopefully, you received your packet today as well and now know where your campus will be.

Good Luck!

Thanks Lisa, but I haven't received it yet. Maybe still on the way. This waiting has tested my petience. I also wonder why the advisment is soooo late. Other schools meet in June, July and Aug. before school begins. I think it would be nice to have an idea what to expect - and those who want to get ready ie buy books could do so. But this is just my 2 cts.

I agree! But for what it is worth, the information packet is helpful. Gives you an idea of how much money you will need for things. It is going to be an expensive 2 years! But well worth it in end. I was under the impression from a post by EagleGirl06, that all the programs will meet for the orientation or what they call "I Can" Camp, which is on August 17 at the Dahlonega campus.

I know it must be horrible not knowing where you are going to have to go! Hopefully, you will hear soon!

Lisa

P.S. Something I forgot to mention, you could go ahead and get your immunizations in order. You'll need the Hep B series, Tetorifice, TB test, and proof of MMR. Also, you'll need a physical, and they'll give you a form to be completed by the doctor. And as mentioned in this thread, you'll need to get your CPR (American Heart Assoc. Healthcare Provider) certification.

I got my packet today, also...without any mention of the location, whatsoever. (I admit my heart gave a little leap after seeing the NGCSU return address -- couldn't wait to read more about orientation, etc.)

I assume a separate letter will come to all of us who are supposed to be attending the "Alpha/Cumming campus." I've tried to be patient and understanding, but this is truly getting ridiculous -- and, in my opinion, it's unprofessional and inconsiderate to us (students) for administrators not to have finalized all of this before now. I understand that moving the location from Marietta was "unavoidable," and we've all tried to be remain positive and extremely patient about the whole situation, but come on...gimme a break. We all do have lives, spouses, and/or children to consider when trying to schedule our classes/commuting, etc.

I'm already stressed, enough, about everything else...

Also, yes, it would have been nice to have orientation in late July, perhaps, to make us all feel a little more sure about what to expect. But, I'm not complaining about that -- at this point, just knowing where I'll be attending school for the next two years will suffice.

A location in Nort Metro Atlanta?? Awsome!! I attend GPC nursing program in Clarkston and commute every day from Roswell. Lets say the program is not perfect and I've been thinking about trasferring for the last few months but all the other schools are soooo faaar.....That location would be soooo great :monkeydance:

Actually, they aren't going to be located in North Metro next year. The students who are in first year will finish their last two semesters at the North Metro Campus in Acworth, but the incoming class will be at the North Alpharetta/Forsyth Campus, located at Lanier Tech in South Forsyth County. Have you been accepted yet? If not, and you plan to attend the next year, you may be at the Alpharetta/Forsyth campus, which wouldn't be far for you either, if you live in Roswell.

No, I have not applied yet. I'm still hoping that the nursing program at GPC will work out for me....I'm taking the summer and I'll make my decision after my second semester. Transferring to other school is going to be a bit complicated because I'll have to take another TOEFL test and one more English class since English is not my first language. I'll try to do my best at GPC and trasfer only if it doesn't work out for me. ;) Are you currently going to North Georgia?

Hi again. Yes, I am currently a student at NGCSU. I just finished my 1st year and will go into my second, and last year, in August. It is a great program. I've heard about the GPC program, so I know it must be tough on you. Hopefully, you will work it out and finish there. I know changing schools at this point would be tough. If not, I know you would love North Georgia.

Good luck to you!!

Ok, what is this I hear about NGCSU opening a satelite program at Lanier Tech??? I am also a GPC student who just finished 2nd semester who is frantically scrambling around applying to different programs. How do I apply for this program? I have a general application in at NGCSU, so I guess I need to wait and apply to the nursing program and then specify where I want to go? I live in Roswell also so this would BE GREAT! :monkeydance:

Best news I've heard all day....
