MCG Clinical Nurse Leader - Fall 2010

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I have applied to MCG's MSN-CNL Program to start in Fall 2010, and I am wondering if current/past students could tell me when (as in what month) they received a phone call for an interview or acceptance/rejection letters.

Additionally, I applied to the Athens Campus program, so will the interview be held in Athens, or will I need to drive to Augusta? Thanks for helping me plan ahead :) I really hope I am the type of candidate they are looking for!

Speak of the devil! I got a voicemail requesting an interview! I am so excited!

Congrats on the interview invite! When will it be?

My application status just changed to 'ready for review' this morning, so it will probably be awhile before I hear anything, hopefully not too long though :)

My interview will be in early March in Athens :) Good luck!

I'm scheduled for an interview, too! Can't wait!

Cool! I have an interview for the Athens campus as well. Does anyone know what kind of questions will be asked on the interview?

Hey guys, I had my interview today! It was really laid back, so don't worry!

My interviewer said that we should hear final answers in mid-April.

I want to apply to the program next year. Can someone please tell me how the interview was? GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!

Hey, the interview was only a 15 minute tell-me-about-yourself and here's-more-information-on-our-program type thing.

Besides, your GRE score and GPA weigh more heavily than the interview anyway; the interview only carries 15% of the weight. So, study HARD!

I had my interview last Thursday, too. It was very laid back, both women were very friendly and the time was up before I knew it.

Any idea about the average GPA of students admitted? I talked to someone in admissions a few weeks ago and they said that the average GRE score was about 1100 (I believe this was last semester's average). Also, any other details on the breakdown of other criteria for admission? Perhaps percentage of total for GRE and GPA? Do they use overall GPA or pre-requisite GPA? What emphasis do they put on the analytical writing portion of the GRE?

GOOD QUESTIONS.

Do you know if 1100 was the average GRE for all of MCG or just for the CNL Program?

I only had one faculty member interview me (I was told there would be two, but I guess something happened since my interview was later in the day), but she didn't seem to know the weight of other criteria other than what I stated above. I didn't ask about our Letters of Recommendation, but I wonder how much stake those have, too. According to my interviewer, MCG sticks everything in a formula to determine whether or not we receive an acceptance letter.

I thought both my GPA and GRE were good, but she said there were some very competitive applicants this year. So, it's a little nerve-wrecking, haha. I asked about the class (or "cohort," if we can call it that) sizes, though. There will be about 50 in Augusta, 20-30 in Athens, and about 15 at all other sites. I think Athens is one of the more competitive sites because it is closer to Atlanta.

I've heard from other nursing programs that they tend to be more concerned with the GPA earned in pre-requisite courses, so that may be the same for MCG. I'm having an updated transcript sent right away just in case this is true (since I just took A&P I last semester).

I was told by Dr. Mundy that the average GPA was 3.4 (that is for the class that started in Fall 2009).
