Emory RN Residency Winter/Spring 2018

U.S.A. Georgia

I haven't seen anything on here about this upcoming residency so I wanted to start a thread for it. I just interviewed for emory midtown medical floor (specifically neuro and oncology) as well as the EDF at University and I wanted to share how it went for future lookers.

Once you arrive and sign in, you walk into an auditorium where you sit and wait for your name to be called. Bring like 6 copies of your resume. I didn't know this and brought one but thankfully there was a nice lady who made copies for me. The interview itself was very comfortable. There are two people who ask you scenario questions such as "Name a time when you gave service above and beyond. What did you do and what was the outcome." Another was "Name a time when you experienced patient conflict," "Give an example of a time where teamwork was needed."

Those were the questions asked plus a few more, for the medical floor. As for ED that was a completely different experience. They wanted to know about strengths and weaknesses as well as what sets emory apart from other hospitals.

Hopefully within a week I will hear back but that was my experience.

Yes! I got called by the recruiter yesterday with an offer for both units. Accepted my top pick verbally today!

That's what happened to me yesterday! That's normally a good sign! Let us know when you find out!

I just want her to call back! I'm sure she is out of the office already since it's 5pm in Atlanta now. I'll keep y'all posted!

Congratulations dmmRN17!!!! There were a lot of people who interviewed so I'm sure they have a list to go down before the rest of us hear anything.

Thank you! Yeah i agree that they are probably going down the line. I feel like by next Friday units will probably have made their decisions too! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Hi everyone! I interviewed this past Monday as well and received an offer for my top choice today! I'm super excited to start residency with you all :)

I also interviewed Monday and I still have not heard anything... I did see on FB people were hearing back since yesterday so it looks like they are calling applicants since yesterday..

What units did you interview for? I've heard from friends who interviewed for past years' residencies that some of their locations do take longer to extend offers than others!

Ok, that's good to know. I interviewed for EUH ICU and St. Joseph ED. Both of the managers did mention they will notify applicants within a week. for those who were accepted, did they call you or did they sent you an email?

They called to extend the offer. After you accept, that's when a lot of the communication is through email (at least in my case that's how it went).

@koreanbraves I have a friend that interviewed at st. Joe's ER and a university ICU and she has yet to hear anything if that makes you feel better! I've also heard it may take longer if you have multiple offers to go through HR. Praying for us all still! Congrats to those who've already accepted positions!

I was contacted by telephone as well. Both units I interviewed for were ICUs, one at Midtown and one at EUH. I chose the Midtown location. I was honestly surprised to hear back so quickly.
