Emory RN Residency Winter/Spring 2018

U.S.A. Georgia

I haven't seen anything on here about this upcoming residency so I wanted to start a thread for it. I just interviewed for emory midtown medical floor (specifically neuro and oncology) as well as the EDF at University and I wanted to share how it went for future lookers.

Once you arrive and sign in, you walk into an auditorium where you sit and wait for your name to be called. Bring like 6 copies of your resume. I didn't know this and brought one but thankfully there was a nice lady who made copies for me. The interview itself was very comfortable. There are two people who ask you scenario questions such as "Name a time when you gave service above and beyond. What did you do and what was the outcome." Another was "Name a time when you experienced patient conflict," "Give an example of a time where teamwork was needed."

Those were the questions asked plus a few more, for the medical floor. As for ED that was a completely different experience. They wanted to know about strengths and weaknesses as well as what sets emory apart from other hospitals.

Hopefully within a week I will hear back but that was my experience.

Hey all! I turned down the NICU position on Monday and my friend just got a call this morning being offered a position in the NICU and the CCU at university. They said she had till Monday to decide. Just wanted to keep you posted! There is still hope!

I just sent you a private message

If you do NICU we will be working on the unit together! That was my top pick and the one I accepted. So exciting!

How long did it take for Hr to send information on completing background checks after you sent in your references?

I asked the nurse recruiter to send me a fully executed contract after I send in the contract and a letter of some sort stating my pay. That was about a month ago and I have still not received anything. I think she is busy and behind on everything. The day I was offered the position, I received an email that had a link to fill out info for a background check, a link to complete an employee profile, a link to set up my references, and a PDF document of the resident reimbursement contract. My references were completed within three days of my offer. I filled out that online thing for my background check and my profile the same day I received it. If you haven't received the link to fill out the background check thing, I would send her an email and ask. My friend who was also offered a resident position received all of the emails except the one with the contract and it was because the nurse recruiter forgot to send it. You should have gotten all 4 items via email after your offer. Hope that helps!

Thank you. I got the job offer two weeks ago and filled out the references last Wednesday, so I'll email the recruiter.

I filled out all of the stuff they sent me weeks ago and still haven't heard back from HR... like how long is it supposed to take for those to process and us get the official offer letters?

Right there with ya. Completed all of those documents the day they were sent with references completed in several days. Still waiting for the letter. I even emailed about a week and a half ago and haven't heard back from her yet.

The nurse recruiter called me today, she's working on letters this week. Hopefully you get yours soon.

I also accepted an offer from Emory a month ago and have yet to receive my official offer letter. Glad to hear she is working on them!

I talked to the nurse recruiter today. The software they use to create offer letters has been down since Friday, so once the site comes back up she'll be able to send out letters

Awesome! Thanks for the update! So excited to start Residency!

I just got my offer letter, I start at the end of this month though. When you get your offer letter, you just email the nurse recruiter to let her know that you accept the offer.
