Hi there! I'm coming out of lurkdom again. :)
I got my acceptance letter to Emory over the holidays. I'm very excited about attending Fall 2006!
I have two pre-reqs left to complete and I'm a bit worried that I might be in a pickle. Here's the deal:
I've been re-taking some pre-reqs at Georgia Perimeter that were too old to qualify for the program. I retook A&P II last spring and Micro this past fall semester. For Emory, I need to take, according to their website, General Chemistry I and General Chemistry II (with an organic component). They had said at the open house that a nutrition class I had might qualify for the Chem II, but it looks like it didn't.
My first question to anyone who might know is: Does Survey of Chemistry II qualify for the "General Chemistry II (with an organic component)" requirement?
Supposing it does, I can register for Survey of Chemistry I at GPC for the spring semester. However, I don't think Survey of Chemistry II is offered in the summer at GPC, which leaves me in a bit of a bind. Anyone think they would let me take Chem I and II concurrently since I have 3 higher level sciences than Chem I and 3 higher level math classes than the pre-req for Chem I? Or, does anyone think I can take Survey of Chem I at GPC and then Survey of Chem II at GA State as a transient student in the summer? (The GPC and GA State Survey of Chem classes seem almost identical.)
Ok, enough rambling....just having a bit of a panic attack here. Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions/etc.!
I don't understand why they'd be so secretive about stupid things. For instance, why can't they just give us the book list? What, is it classified information?! That info has to be given to the bookstore months in advance so they can order them, its not like they haven't decided yet! People need to know so we can plan for expenses. Right now I am working full time and NOT in nursing school, I have time and (a little) money. Once fall gets here, I'll be short on both. Would it kill them to be a little more helpful?

i had to give her a sob story.
The reason I was asking about the dress code is that I may need to buy more business casual clothes while the back-to-school sell is beginning so I'm not shopping through leftovers at the last minute the weekend after school starts. I've have not been working for the last two years so I could go back to school in order to change careers. Sadly my wardrobe has suffered. Other students I chat with would also like to know because they are unsure.
Often times books, procedures, and rules are up in the air and may change at the last minute... But they could still be more helpful.
So what do we do? Buy the uniforms and get the patch sewn in?
Yep, you get to go home w/the lab coat and the pants, but they take about 2 weeks to put the emblem on the top (bought mine on the 11th, they just called back today)...

So they're being secretive about the uniforms, huh? Well, that's just great...:angryfire...as for the books, well, I went to the efollett website and put them in the shopping basket to get a total, and of course, they're still missing a class, so the total is short a class...I'm hoping we don't need all the books, but worst case scenario is all the books new at ~$650...I want to buy them used, but I think one of the Emory people on this board said to expect to buy them all new, which unfortunately, does make sense b/c I'd be keeping mine too...add supplies and a uniform to that and I'm quickly beginning to see where the $1300 quote comes from...
Oh, the joys of being a nursing student...:icon_roll
