Hi, I have been working with Kaylim Career Institute in Atlanta and getting my materials through DLSI (Distance Learning Center Indiana) As most of you Georgia LPN's are aware, Our State Board of Nursing is no longer accepting excelsiors accreditation. I have sunk over 3 grand into this program and no chance for getting my RN, Ok, make a long story short, these guys were taking almost 300 dollars a month from my credit card. So, I stopped payments, and then to add insult to injury I start getting very nasty phone calls from them, (CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?) So, I sent a complaint form to Master Card along with the law stating the new law in Georgia. To my utter shock and disbelief, Master card has refunded 3 months of my money, So the moral of the story..If you are out there in the same boat, please contact me. These guys have known for a long time that this was going down, and DID NOT inform us before we applied that it was happening, that just happily took our money. Ok, in closing..don't despair, I am looking for Georgia Nurses that want to file a class action Lawsuit against these entities. They defrauded us, and they have the nerve to threaten to take me to court, I say BRING IT ON!!! Not only should they refund our money, they certainly shouldn't threaten to sue and harass us with phone calls, when they can't deliver what they promised.

Please refer to the information posted at the top of this forum regarding Excelsior, as the previous ruling by the GaBON has changed and yes we are now eligible for licensure as of 12/22/08. You can also locate the info on the Sec of State website, or the GNA. I would also advise you to call the BON with any specific questions. There are several new posts on this forum about the new decision of the BON. There is also a short story on fox 5 atlanta's website under I-team investigation.
It sounds like you are very frustrated with your financial situation and I wish you luck.
By the way, we are not all former LPN's.

Hi angeliaj37,i understand your frustration. But the problem is that kaylium is not a part of ec. I know they told you that before you signed. Please read your contract. Try to look at it this way. You did business with kaylium first, maybe contract or straight pay. Legally they can not offer you a rn license from ec. The other thing is when did you start with them. Now if it was after 7-01-08 , why did they not tell you guys of the situation? And i know you do not want to hear this, but again your dealings was not with ec direct. Thank god you receive some money back. A lot of people are being debited from their accounts. You will have to get with kaylium for any arrangements because legally they provided you with a service. They can sue you for breach of your contract if you signed one. Wish you luck.

Just be careful. Like motivatedLPN said, they are not part of EC. Also if you started before July 1, 2008 you can get licensed in GA because of the new ruling with th GABON. If they are anything like College Network, they will find ways to get thier money. IMO, its not worth messing up your credit. You may want tocontact Kalium and renegociate your contract.
