Georgia Highlands Spring 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone here is planning to apply to Ga Highlands Spring nursing program? I was planning to apply to Chatt Tech, where I am currently taking classes, but I just found out that they postponing their spring 2012 program until fall 2012! I really wanted to start this Jan., so I am going to try to get in at Highlands. I am worried though, b/c I still have 3 classes left to take (Nutrition, History, Humanities), which I am scheduled to take at Chatt Tech this fall. So I will have everything completed (as long as everything will transfer) before the program starts, but not before applying. I was told by someone in general admissions at Highlands that this was ok and would not bar my entrance, but I always worry about things like that so I was wondering if anyone else was in the same position and had any info?

I was also wondering if anyone had any info on what your scores should be in order to get in. I have heard it is a lot more competitive in the Spring. I have a 3.4 GPA, low b/c of screwing up when I was younger, Science and Math GPA is 4.0. Sat's from 10 years ago is 1310 (don't know what the readjusted score would be), and TEAS V is 91. I wouldn't be worried about applying for fall with my current scores, but I don't know if they will cut it for spring. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this. I would love to hear from anyone else applying for spring. With any luck, we may be classmates in the future!

I sat down with a nursing advisor and they did not mention anything about 4 points? She mentioned 60-69 1 point, 70-79 2 points, 80 was 3. The teas accounts for 10 percent of your appication score. so you could say that science portion is just below 7 % of your application score(because it counts twice)..and and math a little over 3%. Overall GPA does not matter. 3 main science classes are 50% of grade. other requireds are 30%..sat 10%. From what I have heard the teas makes the difference, at least it did in the fall when they used it for the first time. I think overall application scores went down. I hear people dont do so well on it, and you can see a sample of the national average scores being pretty low when you look at the test results. I scored a 90% on math and a 77% on science, and I was in the 93% percentile range with that.

your scores seem really high, and even with 3 classes you will still get in i bet. your overall gpa doesnt matter.. and also your overall teas doesnt matter, just math and science. I also do not have history and nutrition, which I am taking now. We wont get application points for those classses, even though we can apply..so someone with lower scores might get in over us because we dont have the grade yet. I have All B' s in the 3 science courses that account for 50%..and A's and a couple B's in my electives. 1100 sat for my BS degree..90% math, 77% science for teas(i do not know the math she used to calculate the teas points..just know its 10%)..and i think the lady calculated around a 1100 score for mine. She said last januarys cut off was low 1000's. I will be borderline with not havin 2 classes.

I don't see any TEAS requirements on the web site or application. Does everyone have to take it to be considered for spring 2012 admission?

yea, even if you do not make high enough to receive points you still must turn it in. i think today is the deadline? Its on the check list on the 2nd page of the app.

Thanks for the info, lawman12.

I also am applying for Spring admission. I am currently taking the Communications and History requirements though, but hope the fact that I have taken all the other requirements lands me a high enough score to get in. I sent all the paperwork in about a month ago so nothing left to do but wait and pray. I hope I get in because I am so excited and can't stand to wait any longer :-) Good luck all!

I applied as well for Spring 2012. I found out today that my score is 931. Hope that is good enough. :)

I am seeking updated information on the issue of Regional Accreditation as a requirement for nursing license in GA. Are letters being sent to legislatures or what is happening. I too am moving to GA and have 39 years of nursing experience and do not meet the requriement. jes

gluck! Thats all i can say too is i hope!

How did you find out what your worksheet score is? I've tried, but haven't been able to figure mine out. Is there a specific person you spoke with at GHC? I'm so eager to know where I stand.

Thanks

I just emailed the Nursing Advisor. I can't post her name here but her first name starts with a H and her last name starts with a W. I have been corresponding with her back and forth and I just asked her in an email for my total score.

Thanks for your reply. I'll send the adviser an email and ask about my score. Applying to programs is a long, painful process. The wait is excruciating.:uhoh3:
