Hello,
Just wondering if anyone here is planning to apply to Ga Highlands Spring nursing program? I was planning to apply to Chatt Tech, where I am currently taking classes, but I just found out that they postponing their spring 2012 program until fall 2012! I really wanted to start this Jan., so I am going to try to get in at Highlands. I am worried though, b/c I still have 3 classes left to take (Nutrition, History, Humanities), which I am scheduled to take at Chatt Tech this fall. So I will have everything completed (as long as everything will transfer) before the program starts, but not before applying. I was told by someone in general admissions at Highlands that this was ok and would not bar my entrance, but I always worry about things like that so I was wondering if anyone else was in the same position and had any info?
I was also wondering if anyone had any info on what your scores should be in order to get in. I have heard it is a lot more competitive in the Spring. I have a 3.4 GPA, low b/c of screwing up when I was younger, Science and Math GPA is 4.0. Sat's from 10 years ago is 1310 (don't know what the readjusted score would be), and TEAS V is 91. I wouldn't be worried about applying for fall with my current scores, but I don't know if they will cut it for spring. Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this. I would love to hear from anyone else applying for spring. With any luck, we may be classmates in the future!

HI! i'm also applying for sping 2012 admissions. I'm finishing up my Anat/Phy 1 at GPC, fall i have to take part 2 and possibly retake micro because i took it in 2005 (hopefully not though) I'm taking the teas early August and sending my school app in the first week and my nursing app shortly after.
Well good luck, I hope we both will get in. I am going to apply to the school today and send off for my transcripts. Hopefully I will get an answer soon so I can apply to the program. My biggest frustration is trying to find out if all my classes will transfer. No one at the school has been able to help me with this. It appears that I will just have to apply and then meet with an adviser after acceptance. If they don't all transfer I am going to cry! I just cannot wait to become a nurse and have been working so hard towards it. I am ready to start the program now!

Hey guys,
What was the orientation in Rome for? And how did you hear about it? I have been pre-nursing at Ga Highlands for 2 years and am applying for Spring 2012. I didn't hear anything about an orientation. Was it mandatory?
Also, if all your grades are good, but you fail the TEAS, do you think you can still get in? I haven't taken the TEAS yet, I actually take it tomorrow in Dahlonega, but I am expecting the worst because it has been over 10 years since I have taken Math classes.
Thanks for any info...especially about the orientation! :)

I also applied for the spring, and I talked to someone in admissions and they never mentioned anything about an orientation? I doubt it was mandatory. Also, your TEAS score can only give you points. ex:if you score a 60%-69% you get 1point, 70%-79% 2points, 80%-89% 3points, 90%-100% 4points. The points are added to you're overall score. That is what someone in admissions explained to me the other day.
Has anyone calculated their admissions score yet?
i'm sure you don't need to be worried about the orientation if you are a current student. i called and asked if i had to because i would technically be a transfer student and they said i did have to attend! for the TEAS just brush up on basic math and percentages!
i have not calculated my score and i am not even focusing on this school anymore since i am also in the admissions process at another school..
I've calculated my score as a 1119. I have B, A & A in the sciences, A's and B's in Category 2, and a SAT score of 1140. I'm taking the TEAS on Tues in Lawrenceville, so let me know how you do ccook! Good luck!
I took the TEAS yesterday and made an 82 (don't know if that's a good score or not!) But I sat beside someone who said that GA Highlands favors applicants with higher TEAS scores?? Anyone know if this is true? Or what is considered a "high" score?

Did you make an 82 overall? that's really good. GA Highlands only looks at the science and math sections. They also said the science counts twice and math only counts once. I couldn't figure out how to apply that to my worksheet score so I just called the school and they helped me work it out!
Well, I made an 86.7 on the math and 75 on the science. I just didn't have any other scores to compare mine to:) So do you know if the school takes a preference for applicants with a higher TEAS score?
Anyway, I'm bringing my application to the school so I can talk to an advisor and clear all these questions up! If anyone else has any questions, you can reply to my post and I'll ask the advisor for you!
