Georgia Highlands College Waiting Game!

U.S.A. Georgia

Hopefully, we are getting close to hearing something. I wanted to start a new thread and see if anyone wanted to play the waiting game for fall ADN Program. We've been waiting since April 1st and it's about time we heard something.:anbd:

I have all the shots but the 3rd hep b. Do any of you other wellstar employees know if employee health will do our physical or if we have to make a doctors appointment? Also I am so relieved we dont have to wear white scrubs. lol.

I am relieved too about the white scrubs!! White is NOT my color.

Employee health told me that you have to go to your MD for a physical.

I am in a bind....my MD can't see me til the 13th. I hate waiting til the last minute to have my physical. I see where it states that all paperwork must be submitted by orientation. Any ideas on what I can do? I guess I could register for the 14th. I am scared!!!!! My luck is that he would cancel the appt. I tried to see another MD in the office but they would not let me.

Do we mail the paperwork or do we turn it in at orientation?

I'm scheduled Friday for all my shots and taking my CPR next week. I did the background check yesterday and will get my Photo taken later this afternoon! From my understanding, the paper work is turned in at orientation. I am out of town the week of orientation, so I am scheduling an appointment when I return. I guess I'll get what's left over.

FYI. if any of you guys still need to CPR certified there is a class in dallas tonight from 6-8p.m. and the lady assured me it is the same class offered at Wellstar Health Place that lasts from 9-3. The price is $50.

lucky find for you dallas!! Usually the shorter CPR class is for renewal, and even that class is 4 hours!! Wish I knew about that last week before sitting in HealthPlace for 5 hours!!

starrdan - I am in the same bind. Can't get a physical until the end of July...anywhere!! Hoping my dr will sign the paperwork when I go for my shots, based on the fact that I have been going there for years and definitely still need my physical this year. This is the problem with us finding out acceptances so late. Hope it works out for you.

I went by the health dept today and the lady told me to come back on Friday b/c that's when they do shot records and shots. I'm sure that the place will be full and I have to wait awhile but I'm hoping to get it done. I had my shots updated to apply for highlands. I'm hoping they are still good. I've had 3 hep shots; 2 in '97 and 1 in Dec'08. Two MMMR's '96 and '98. TDAP in 12/08. And two stacked TB tests in April 2009. Do you guys think I need more or that I'll be o.k.? I am just hoping that the health dept can give copies of the records and sign the clinical passport. Am I on the right track. I'm confused???

OMG! I just flipped over the clinical passport....I don't know if the health dept can fill that out....I do know that the lady that gave me my shots back in Dec. 2008 was a RN b/c she was talking to me about nursing school. So, maybe?

dallas - it says in the paperwork that a physician, nurse practioner, or the Health Dept can complete and sign the form, so you should be ok. But I'd check with the nursing dept just to be sure if you're worried.

thanks tns. I'll try health dept first then dr, if needed. ... I feel like a vacuum cleaner is hooked up to my pockets. Backgr chk $45 + passport photo+ $9 + $50 CPR class + uniforms + dr visit co-pay ?.... Anyone else feel this way? I'm just a struggling student that gave up my job for nursing school. Actually, my job gave up on me(real-estate).

you'll be better in the long run with the nursing profession. a little more stabe considering today's economic situation. but yes, i think we're all with you just watching the money fly out the window and we haven't even registered for classes or received books. i am sure everyone will be trying for the marietta program. pretty good deal!!
