I talked with the board of nursing and was told that those people whose waivers were denied would get temp licenses and would have to do a 500 hour clinical preceptorship(unpaid) to be eligible for permenant licensure. The clinical breakdowns as follows: 200 med/surg; 100 peds; 100 ob/gyn; 100 pysch. We should get a letter in the mail this week with details.

Wow! That is insane! Makes me really nervous, I thought we were all "grandfathered" in by the old rules. I'm still waiting on them to finish reviewing my application.
if you are an lpn u dont have to do this but everyone else has to. I am a respiratory therapist but the board doesnt consider my 8 years experience enough so now i have to do 500 unpid hours of clinical. just one more hoop to jump through but i am going to do it and get this mess over with.
I think I just had a small MI. Fortunately I am a GA LPN but that is so unfair to the rest of you guys! I thought the way things were worded originally that anyone enrolled in EC before 7/08 would fall under the old guidelines withought any other stipulations!
I think they wied to try and apply the new guidelines just to be difficult. but it is what it is and I have to abide by it. I will do it and try to do it as fast as I can even if it means doing the 4 days I am of to finish it as fast as I can!

Sorry you have to do this but at least you will be able to get your license in the end. Maybe you can talk to a recruiter and they can count this as your orientation and hire you at the end of your 500 hrs. Good Luck to you!
