Hello,
I recently turned in my application for the January 2015 MSN/FNP program at Georgetown University. Has anyone else applied for this cohort? I would like to know how the process went. The hardest part for me was the video essay.
Thanks!
Thank you, that makes me feel a little better knowing others waited longer. I just read a lot of posts by people who heard back in 1-2 weeks, or less. I had a lot of trouble with my last letter of recommendation getting to them (the MD that wrote me one didn't want to do the online submission, then only sent a letter to the other school I applied to, so it was very late). I feel like I've been waiting forever, and I'm a pretty anxious person to begin with. I truly feel like I had a strong essay and excellent letters of recommendation, but I'm always one to assume the worst case scenario.

Have you heard back from GU yet?

I would probably check in with your advisor and ask if he/she has an idea when you can expect to hear from the admissions committee. My guess is they are just trying to finish up all the applications for those applying to the May cohort.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you!😊

I was accepted too. Do not give up- PA_RN87, BSN, RN, my application did not change for a while either.
I just emailed my advisor again. Congratulations on your acceptance, B,RN! I'm glad to hear another person waited for a while, and was accepted. The "worst case scenario" part of my brain is starting to assume I'm not a viable candidate, and therefore my application was just shoved to the side to be rejected when there's time. I have my fingers crossed, and I hope to hear something soon (and something good!).
:::UPDATE:::
I just heard a response from her: "Thanks for your email. I do not know what is taking faculty so long at this point. I will let my director know that you are hitting the 4 week mark. Thanks for this update."
The suspense is killing me! I hope all this waiting isn't for nothing...

I have an acceptance with another school as well, a reputable private university that is half the price, but it is takes 8 months longer to complete.
I would also have to visit the campus 8 times vs 2 times at GU. I agree, It is hard to think about the cost of GU, but I believe it will be worth it. I read another GU students post who made a good point that graduating sooner means the potential to start making an NP salary sooner. This makes the cost difference not quite as extreme and helped me make my decision.
Best of luck in whatever decision you make!
