Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All!

Is anyone currently enrolled into the FNP online program at Georgetown?? I appreciate any feedback or input on this program. I haven't met anyone enrolled in the course yet...and i was a bit nervous about applying...It's a great/prestigious school...and I would like to know more about it from a students perspective before I cough up 78,000 bucks... Thanks in advance!!!

No but my adviser told me by the end of this week I will find out. Are you applying for part time or full time? When did you receive an email that your application was forwarded to faculty for review?

Mine was completed 4/16 (and I am applying for full time) and my admissions guy said it would be 2-3 weeks. I did talk to another person who was starting at a different time and it was well over a month the before she heard anything. Good luck and make sure you let me know if you hear anything!

I received my acceptance letter today for admission into the part time fnp program starting in september. I hope you hear back soon!

That is great, congratulations! So happy for you, so did you hear in about two weeks? It has only been one week for me and I am already wearing out the refresh button on my phone email! Good luck at Georgetown!

Thank you. It took about 3 weeks to find out. I was the same way

I just applied to the FNP program that starts in November. I'm so nervous! Does anyone know what MyAccess + is? I get that when I log in to MyAccess, but I cannot seem to get into that. It is as if it requires a totally different log in.

Hello, I'm considering the Part Time option for January 2014. Would really like to hear from people who are part-way through or have finished the program on the Part Time schedule. Specifically, how many hours per week did you need to put in? And did you work while you were taking classes? clinicals? I am basing my financials on working 30h/wk until clinicals start, and then cutting to 20h/wk. Do you think that's realistic? or would I need to work less? (formerly stellar student w/ a 50yo brain). Thanks in advance for any info.

I just began my application process to Georgetown. I talked with the admissions rep and it sounds like the way I want to go. I will have 16mo of GI bill 100% left in December when I'm done with my BSN (I've been an RN for a year and a half already) through Excelsior. I like the interactive online format the most and find it interesting as i'm a huge audio/visual learner! =) I'm a little concerned about the CV as most of my hands on clinical experience was as an LPN, and as an RN i've only done case management/disease management. I do not have a lot of volunteer time and/or community service either. (Hubby was in the Army and the only true volunteer stuff I did was for my kids school, and for the battalions' my husband was assigned to) My GPA is decent at a 3.6, not exactly sure what my sciences GPA is though. The video essay/introduction scares me too, i'm better interacting with someone over the phone or face to face not just blabbering on. =) Looking for admission for april/may 2014 time frame.

I'm wondering the exact same! Information would be great!

I applied already and hope to start FNP program -part time Jan 2014 and my application was under review as of yesterday. I am looking forward to being notified of my acceptance or not. Anyone else applying for Jan 2014? I expect that I will be online watching recorded lectures and attending lectures at least 12-14 hrs a week. I plan to work full time and study with the little remaining time left every evening. I read that once you start clinical you do not spend that much time in lectures. The first few semesters will probably be the hardest but I am thankful that it fits perfectly in my schedule and lifestyle the way it does. I look forward to seeing other nurses in the program that are in this thread -assuming I am good enough for Georgetown :) If I am not then that is okay too maybe UC will take me.

CK did you hear anything about acceptance yet? Uggghhh My application went in on Oct 3rd and got the myaccess email on Oct 4th saying it went to review. Adviser said three weeks or so before I find out. I applied for May 2014 start date though so who knows how long that will take to find out. I'm super nervous! =) I plan on leaving my full time M-F job and work Fri, Sat, Sun 2nd shift as most places around here that's considered "full time" work, especially the nursing homes. I hate to do it, but it will be easier for me during the week to get school work finished, and work on just the weekends i think. My back up plan is University of Cincinnati as well for their May start date =)

Hi Tasha

I didn't get in. I was surprised because I really thought I would get in. A real disappointment for me. Let me know how it goes and Best of luck to you!!!:)
