Georgetown University Hospital New Grad Residency 2018

Hi everyone! I have applied and will be interviewing for the Georgetown New Grad Residency for February 2018. I wanted to start a thread so anyone applying can keep in touch. Has anyone interviewed yet?

Hi all,

I am hoping you are still following this thread. I am currently on the West coast and about to graduate May 2018 with my BSN. My husband is being relocated to the DC area at the end of this year so I am looking into New Grad Programs in the DC Area. I have been looking at Georgetown but I do not see any new grad information on their website right now. Do you have to have license in hand before applying? If you have started, are you enjoying the program? I do not know much about hospitals in DC so I am trying to gather as much information as I can. Thanks!

You don't have to have a DC license in hand before applying. I am coming from Missouri to the DC area, so I would be applying by endorsement or examination (still figuring out which is best since my school already made us turn in paperwork in early February). There are a lot of great hospitals in DC with Georgetown being one of the best.

Hi FutureNurse.2017,

This is the website that leads you to the residency page:

Next Generation of Nurses - MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

However, I believe they only accept cohorts to start in February and July of each year. The July 2018 cohort interviewed in the beginning of February. I'm not sure when the next round of interviews will be held!

Another helpful resource I used when looking for new graduate positions was the AACN website. This link will show you vizient nurse residencies by state:

http://www.aacnnursing.org/Portals/42/AcademicNursing/NRP/NRP-Participants-by-State.pdf?ver=2017-07-17-151637-730

Hope this helps!!

PS anyone on here get an offer for the summer 2018 cohort?

Thank you so much for the resource! I have been searching different hospitals to figure out if they have programs.

For those going through the process...How has it been? How competitive?

I graduate in May but will not be in DC until December...I am in a weird position because I cannot apply for new grad programs in LA and now will have to wait to start a new grad program in DC in January or February. :(
