Georgetown CNL Fall 2017

Published

I haven't seen a thread started yet for GT's fall CNL program. I am soooooooo anxious. I know we should hear by April. I got such a great feeling about Georgetown and its program...not to mention the admissions director has been nothing but helpful with all of my questions. Anyone else apply?

My stats (in case I get in heh): 3.6 undergrad, law school degree (not a great GPA b/c of the grading curve), 4.0 prereq, hospital volunteer for 6 months, no med experience except for volunteering. Video interview was lukewarm (nerves and I had a tech snag) and essay was also ok/ good (nothing earth shattering but it was well written I think).

Did you fill out a financial aid form already? I was just about to do my FAFSA.... did we need to do something else?

Just received my acceptance, I also got into Johns Hopkins. Really torn about the decision I have to make ! Good Luck Everyone !

I was accepted as well, I'm very surprised and excited! Would love to find out more about financial aid options.

Also still debating the advantage of a CNL over Accelerated BSN.

Congrats to everyone accepted!

I just got accepted today as well! Does anyone know of any other forms of financial aid available other than FAFSA?

One advantage of the CNL over BSN is financial aid. All loans taken on a masters can be federal and, thus, easier to pay back. I keep wondering if we go on to get a NP degree--- will some of those classes transfer? Not sure. But it would be nice to shave off a few as my ultimate goal is a nurse practitioner.

GT used to have the Washington Scholars program but GWU took that over. I am not aware of any other institutional scholarships available to us. I am pretty sure it's going to be all loans. I think I messed up a bit...I am only now just doing my FAFSA. I didn't complete my taxes until last week so not sure how I could have done the form before. I am a little confused on this fin aid part.

That is definitely an advantage as finances are one of my main concerns! As for the NP route, I am in the same boat and considering NP down the road. I would hope that once we have an MSN some of our credits would transfers and we would be able to do something like a post grad certificate program. Or that by the time we finish there are a few programs geared toward that!

People say this often with the loan debate, but 140,000 in federal loans is NOT better than 60,000 in private. This program is one of the most expensive masters programs for nursing out there. Here's hoping for some scholarships!

Well for me I already have law school loans. Most were taken right when Grad Plus started but I have a year of private. Those private loans are the bane of my existence. My Grad Plus were easily and neatly consolidated into one loan and I pay on an income based repayment plan. So it's a lot but manageable. I am also halfway through Public Service Loan Forgiveness b/c I worked for a nonprofit for those years. I will continue that at a hospital. All fed loans will be forgiven and it's not taxable income. Of course this is not possible for everyone so yeah bring on those scholarships!

Would people be interested in a Facebook group for the incoming Fall 2017 class?
