Georgetown Accelerated BSN Spring 2012 Entry

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello --

Anyone else applying to Georgetown's Accelerated BSN Program, beginning Spring '12? :)

- M

I also got the WHC scholarship. Am I dreaming?

I got in no scholarship.....decisions decisions :) Congrats everyone! It's like bitter sweet for me lol

I am so happy for all of us! It is good that the waiting is over.

I'll see some in January, and to everyone else: "...start upon your path and the universe will see that you get to your destination." in other words, best of luck to us all!!

I didn't know that they were making additional decisions after the visit day either. This was news to me. I hope that those were disappointed will have the opportunity in another program! We will all be nurses and I'm sure we will meet again. Good luck!

I received the scholarship as well. It is starting to feel real. I will see some of you in January! And I am sure I will see Darkwater205 around the MC campus!

I saw your posts yesterday about WHC and got a little sad because I hadn't heard anything from WHC yet -- positive or negative. So today I emailed about the status and she said she'd sent my email to the wrong address. I got into WHC program, too! Yipee! Best news for a gorgeous Friday.

So excited that we are going to be nurses. It's really happening!

Has anyone thought about living arrangements? DC is a pretty penny!

Hi Minlat,

I've been dying to tell people about my neighborhood (I live in a building near 16th and U Sts NW) for several reasons:

1) I want to recruit built-in study buddies and commuting buddies :)

2) 10 minute walk to the Dupont GUTS bus (3 miles if one walks or bikes the whole way to Gtown), the GUTS bus is a 20 min ride

3) 2 miles from WHC

4) Strategic location on the border between U St, Adams Morgan, and Dupont Neighborhoods

5) Walkable to 3 Metro Stations: U St/Cardozo (.5 mi), Dupont (15 min walk), and Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan (25 min walk, but there's also a bus that will get you there)

6) My building is reasonably priced, IMO

PM me! :)

Wow Cobalt25, that sounds so awesome, kinda sad I already live in Arlington. Although I'm pretty happy here!

But to Minlat- I live in Arlington VA off of Columbia Pike near the pentagon. I think it is a pretty safe neighborhood and cheaper that Rosslyn, or Ballston areas of Arlington. I'm planning on taking metro to Rosslyn and either walking or taking the Georgetown bus to campus (my sister works at the Georgetown hospital and uses the bus. She says it comes regularly and often). As far as clinicals I am planning on driving, or carpooling- as I know I'll be headed to WHC often I'm hoping to find other people who live in my area.

I would say that for clinicals we will have to be at the hospital fairly early and taking buses and metro will mean you will have to be up even earlier. Public transit will cost you at least 1.50 each way, so I figure with carpooling the price of parking won't be much more expensive and will hopefully mean a bit later wake up on those mornings!

I think it depends on if you are WHC or not- because your clinicals will vary. But ease of getting to campus will be important.

Where are you moving in from? Also the cohort before us has a facebook group (Georgetown University Fall 2011 ABSN) so you could ask them for advice too!

Hey I would be moving from Philadelphia. But I am still sorting out the logistics because I am not WHC. I actually still waiting on financial aid to get back to me. So yea, I have some real decisions to make in the next few weeks....

Correction *I'm

I live in Wheaton, md about 2.5 blocks from the metro and may have a cheap room available in my house. Not sure how I'll get to campus, either metro or car. Buti will be driving to WHC. The room availability depends on our current boarder. Nice house near lots o food and shopping. Private bathroom.

I live in Potomac MD because I have kids and dogs - lol. But I will be driving to school. I rented a parking space 3 blocks from campus off of craigslist so that's my plan. I will also be driving to WHC - am happy to take people with me if we can make it work. Two or three days a week I take my son to school off of 16th st and then either will come to school or go to clinical I guess. Need to figure this all out. I am waiting to see the Spring 2012 class schedule so that I can start to try to plan my classes around all the rest of the stuff I have going on.
