Hey guys, I have read over several posts but as the years go by so do the improvements on different supplies.
So with that said, I would like to get an honest opinion on what kind of stethoscope is best, as well as what kind of shoes (ie: comfort, durability, etc.)
In addition does anyone know of great sites/stores that offer discounted rates to students?
I wear Danskos. I was SO opposed to them at first. It only took me about 3 days to really break them in. Now, I cannot wear anything else to work. They align my body the way it should be and down allow me to stand on the sides of my feet, which is a really bad habit of mine thanks to my odd hyper-flexibility in my ankles.
For stethoscopes, I just can't really hear with anything but a littmann. Maybe a higher end MDF...but I prefer littmann. I actually use a Littmann Cardiology III, but then again, I work on a cardiology floor, so I NEED to hear the details.
I have a Littman Cardiology III. I know people tell you to buy a cheap one now and buy a better one after graduation, but I have a hard time hearing sounds when I use the cheap ones. I love mine. Any of the Littman products should work well for you. Medisave has free engraving on their Littman stethoscopes.
I really hate when people suggest that. It doesn't make sense. If you can buy the better quality now, it would just save you the headache of going through school thinking everyones heart tones are muffled and lungs are diminished

Ask the school about local stores that have discounts. The cheapest I could find the stethoscope (with engraving) was at medisave.net.
